Siniarch is my new hero. His level of Knowledge and ingenuity just amazes me.
DC thank you very much for the time and effort you put into organizing that event.
The Zyglight is a really practical mood and fill light, I am dfinetly taking a second look at it.
Deuce of spades, we need more people like you in film. Great ideas and a good vibe. Your film project sounds pretty cool.
USlatin content as intrigueing and full of life in person just as online. thanks fr the lighting tips.

Hi all,

Had a great time at the meet yesterday.

It was a treat to be able to check out all that gear. And inspiring to see people putting it into real world use. Thanks to all who lugged their gear to the meet. Now if I just had unlimited funds...

Special thanks to DC for setting it up and to Kathy for being a great host, and what a house!

Thank you DC! The location was great and the owners of the house were so welcoming! A+ yet again for orchestrating this for us with your personal time and effort. Thank you. Now get to work on the next one! :D lol... thanks man!

I had a lot of fun and got to see a few things I wanted to check out.

The CARRION is insane... the amount of resolution it has over the Marshal is immediately noticeable and it is VERY bright. The colors looked spot on! Auto flip can be switched on in an instant. And the zoom might come in handy when you want to be 200% sure about your focus marks. A GREAT product... FYI, if you didn't hear him say it, Siniarch will have to end the introductory rate soon or he'll be eating Cup O' Noodles like me :) so if you are considering this baby I'd say hurry up! I can't wait to see it next to a production CRT! The color was really good in it! Mad props to you Luis. And I can't wait to see the new one you are planning on with 1200cd/m2!!!

The dolly! I need a chair, a seat is so very important... I didn't think I could but looking at Faith's new dolly which wasn't that much I need to figure out a way to make a seat mount that I can re-position. I didn't think it was something I could afford but after seeing the simplicity yet excellent design of hers I need to think outside the box and go for it... I'll have to modify it somehow. The seat is just too important. I have a few ideas on how to do this already. Thanks for letting me check it out!

I loved how you guys set the SG Pro and the Letus Flip side to side and immediately started matching the settings, lol... THAT is what we need to do more of! DC was saying this, that maybe we could organize shootouts! That will be fun and useful! I can-not-wait to see the Brevis! If it is as fast as the Letus I can only hope it will give an image similar to that of the SG's or maybe the M2's with one of the elements already being offered, then it will be a no-brainer for me.

I had tons of fun with you guys, and needless to say the geek porn (a.k.a. gear porn) scattered throughout the back yard make it even better of an afternoon. :D

i'm always down to show off the adapter.
If you guys want to do a more controlled testing let me know.
What I saw from the quick observations pretty much just confirmed tim naylor's testing between the lex and the sgpro.

Thanks again to everyone! Would love to do this more often, work on short scenes and have adapter shootouts. It's tough for me though; my "free" time is very limited these days. But I always try to do what I can when I can.

Faith and I got a special treat the following day (Sunday, Dec 16th). I was on set DP'ing a feature and re-imagined a shot with a dolly. BING:Drogar-Mark-01(DBG) Hey . . . Faith has a dolly! So I called her up and she came over to the set - really fast - with her amazing Indie Dolly system. It was great to actually use it for real during an actual film. So, many thanks to Faith! (Plus, she got to check out the Brevis up close and personal.) :)

[BTW, Faith, you left a small black bag (with pieces inside) from your Indie Dolly at the location. I took it home with me to North Hollywood. You're welcome to come pick it up whenever. Just let me know and we'll coordinate.]

No, give me the bag... I will work on stealing the other pieces later :)

I just PM'ed Thoff for those pics he was taking. Hopefully if he gets a minute he can resize/crop and host a few.

RATS !! I just left you a message on your cell. Need it back ASAP and DON'T even think about giving it to Roberto :Drogar-BigGrin(DBG)...

Last night I sat in my studio and set up all my lights and lit an African mask, then I pulled out every single lens I now own and filmed the same mask with each.

My favorite by far was the micro 55mm lens. the footage I got from it was simply out of this world, amazing how you looked at the same mask from a completely different perspective. Suddenly I was taking a journey INTO the mask, visiting it's every details, texture, crevaces, it was amazing. When (if I ever) I get my PC back I will upload the footage from all the lenses, fun to see what they each do.

I would like to know if David, Luis, Matt and Me could meet up and do 4 side to side comparison of our 4 adapters (RR, Lx, Brevis and MGpro) , shooting the same subject with our HVX all at the same neutral settings. Now that would be something. I am go this week-end if you guys want. let take snap shots too.

:) I sent you a text message about that, but perhaps you did not receive it? I can call you later. But basically . . . yeah, I can get it back to you tonight or tomorrow. I won't be where it is until later tonight. Tomorrow might be better (if you can wait), perhaps to meet in the Woodland Hills area?

It does sound cool, but I won't have the time for that this weekend and probably not for awhile. I'm wrapped up in some projects, which are my top priorities right now.

I'm sure there are others in LA with the HVX200/Brevis combo. Regardless, I'd love to know the results.

to make fair comparisons (and a much longer day) you really should set up each adapter on the same camera and use the same lenses.
