Ok folks! I know lots of you guys have been waiting to see this... Hell, I have been waiting to see this. So here it is.

We all know that the Century MKII claims .3x. It may even be wider on the DVX. The 16X9 claims .4. I'd say they are right on the money. A lot of people said that the 16X9 was going to be a glorified wide angle, blah blah. As it turns out it's actually an excellent fisheye! Granted, it's not a super world bending Century, but it does have a surprising amount of barrel distortion. I'd say if you are shooting skating, yeah.... Who here shoots skating???? If you are shooting skating than consider either lens. If all you care about is having the widest possible field of view then get the Century. But, if you want to shoot something with the benefits and barrel distortion of a fisheye while maintaining a more polished look (read: a professional looking lens) the 16X9 definitely fits the bill. I'll let the pics do the talking.

Lets start out with the old grid shots. I made my own grid. The one one here that everyone uses is asymmetrical and it drives me crazy. Sorry I guess I'm jerk. Oh well.

Here's the grid through the cameras stock lens. Oooohhh nice! LOOK AT THAT DISTORTION!

Next up, the 16X9 lens! Not bad!

Now, since I know someone would ask, and because I am PSYCHIC... Here is the 16X9 with a spacer.

Here's the Century MKII!

And the century zoomed in while preserving a clean edge on the vignette. (Zoomed to about 8.5)

So clearly, as you can see, if your only concern is which is wider the MKII is the winner. WIDENESS IS NOT EVERYTHING! You have to admit, the 16X9 is much wider that you thought it would be and unlike other less expensive lenses there is ZERO chromatic aberration! If you want quality professional video the 16x9 WINS! Vignetting is so 1990s anyway...

Here are some more of my lovely bedroom, or as they say on Cribs, (and when I say they, I mean those celebrity types...) the place where the magic happens!!!!

... and yet, to many people, that's the whole point...

Actually, it's pretty nice that the 16x9 can deliver a full frame without vignetting (okay, a tiny tinge in the very corners) or, with a spacer, you can get that fisheye look. I really liked the 16x9 .75x lens that I tested, they're making some good products!

My pick would be the 16x9 considering Im not a fan of the vignetting. Sign me up! Where can I get one!? Haha.

PS. Good Thread.
