For You 3D and RUSH Fans

Maybe by volume. But they aren't as appreciated here the way they are in Canada. They get virtually no real acclaim here compared to....well, just about anybody.

Yeah Rush is funny... I've never been a big fan of BANDS but rather of MUSIC... so when people ask me about a favorite band or a particular band... I always sound kind of bland as I show that I don't even know who they're talking about... but Rush has been the exception. My teen years weren't so great and I remember really enjoying the music and stories told through their songs... especially once Neil started writing all that great science fiction stuff. So when people ask me if I have a favorite band... I have to say Rush, even though I think there have been more significant bands through the years. I think The Beatles probably changed the world... and I don't know if Rush has... but they changed my world.

That was a pretty good dedication... I wonder if NP has seen that?

I feel the same way Matt. I don't put their CDs in much anymore, but when asked, they are still my favorite band.

It's odd to me how they are so respected as musicians by thier peers as well as fans. They have had the same lineup for 30 years.
They have sold a RIDICULOUS amount of albums( consistently gold or platinum almost every time out)
Are cited as inluences from a ton rockstars and professional musicians.

Yet they never get into the hall of fame, despite the presence of Dion (whom I love) the Lovin Spoonful, and the Dave Clark Five.

I also believe they have never been on the cover of Rolling Stone. How many times has Britney been there?

Just between us, I think it's time we recognize, the spaces in between leave room for you and I to grow.

Why was his head stretched at times?

That was sooo cool, but there wasn't really fantastic drumming, it should of been more of a guitar video.

Now, lets see Moby Dick by John Bonaum....WOW that would be COOL!

Fellow Rush fan and drummer here.

I saw them earlier this year at Mohegan Sun in Connecticut. Rush never had to do any "reunion" tours, cuz they never broke up! And they are tight as hell! (Unlike another nameless trio I saw this year that was very sloppy...)

I saw them about 18 months ago. Not only were they tight and sounded great. They just seemed to be having a great time.

and yeah..."wasn't really fantastic drumming"... somebody needs an edumacation.

I dunno, maybe he was holding out for the extended "Exit Stage Left" YYZ drum solo. :Drogar-BigGrin(DBG)

Okay, so I've been a Rush fan since Permanent Waves (and I was eight years old at the time). I've seen them on every tour since then, and Jim's right, they're always tight and they have a great time on stage. But they might finally get some recognition from the US music establishment…

Their instrumental ("Malignant Narcissism") is nominated for a Grammy this year. Hopefully they'll win this time around.

(And I'm typing this with a set of Rush bobblehead dolls on my desk, so yes, my geek love has no bounds.)

The local fans surrounding me at the last Rush concert ruined the Rush concert thing for me... I'd way rather pay more to see them in a smaller venue with ticket prices that keep the stoners at home. Hey I'm all about a good time, but being surrounded by people getting as stoned and drunk as they possibly can... and then screaming along to Red Barchetta... that was like watching a biker gang pull up and beat my own dog while I tried to decide whether or not I felt like getting in a riot caliber fight.

That drumming comment? WTF man? You gotta' be kidding me? The best drummer of all time I'd say... Neil or perhaps Buddy Rich... but my vote goes to Neil.

That was sooo cool, but there wasn't really fantastic drumming,

Wow, just the fact that a band can get a song called something like "Malignant Narcissism" nominated is huge feat. Look at all those syllables. Are you sure it wasn't a mistake?

Grammy Nomination : Best Rock Instrumental Performance
Metallica, “The Ecstasy of Gold”
Rush, “Malignant Narcissism”
Joe Satriani, “Always With Me, Always With You”
Bruce Springsteen, “Once Upon a Time in the West”
Steve Vai, “The Attitude Song”

They probably nominated it because they didn't understand what those words mean. :D

The best drummer of all time I'd say... Neil or perhaps Buddy Rich... but my vote goes to Neil.

I'm kind of reaching here, but did anyone see that episode of Freaks and Geeks where the father heard the kid listening to Rush and said, "Neil Peart can't drum his way out of a paper bag." And then he gave the kid Buddy Rich records to listen to? There were several Rush references on that show (All 7 episodes)
