Skater Dolly Knockoff with HVX

tony, id found your skater on ebay. looks slick - but kinda frail. can you post some other pics?

"cheap, available" and "skater" NOT a successful equation. if you want cheap and available, just bolt a bogen head on a skateboard ; )

I don´t get it guys. Any village machine shop can make that under $250.
Why are poeple paying so much for gear if it is film related?

BUILD YOUR OWN... That's all this guy has done from what was posted and Developed by Teddy on this very site. Just an opportunist who's made one. You could build one out of wood for less than a hundred bucks.. or have one machined and then you can knock'em off like this clown.

Hey,

We are about to finalize our very heavy duty skater, which will soon be available for sale in a small series.
It is crafted entirely from aluminium and stainless steel, with precision ball bearings, etc to support 60+ pounds ...

Made in Romania

Stay tuned for the latest pictures ...

We call it the "Red Skater"

There might be interest but again based on the price. I have stated before. I would be willing to pay about 350 for one I dont build myself. Considering you can build one yourself for less than 250)

Our Skater has nothing in common with those plywood models you see around ...
This is real heavy duty, able to carry 100 pounds !

It won't be cheap ... I'll keep you updated as the prototype will be finished

Hi Edi 5,

If I may reccomend from experience, you might want to build the system so the skater wheels are easily exchangable. We have noticed over time, the cheap skate wheels will flatten (by sitting around) and cause bumps.

Also a mount extension system allowing cameras with 35mm adapter to be offset to be more balanced. Extreme front heavy rigs cause vibration and inaccurate rotation values.

Good luck with your product and let us know when it's availible!!!

Cheers,

well if you have not noticed what forum you are on. We dont need that heavy duty of a unit. Our camera weighs at 6/7lbs. I think a max load of 15/20lbs would suit the users of this forum better.

I just built a plywood version. It was a lot of friggin work and I could see how someone would scoff at selling them for anything less than $500. Plywood is cheap but your time sure as hell isn't. After I got into it I thought about all the other things I could be doing like ummm...shooting. And I disagree that a machine shop will do it for less than $250...i've hit up a couple of them and that barely covered tooling setup. I say build it yourself if you want it cheap, mine came out nice it was just way more work than my non carpenter behind anticipated.

I dont think anyone said a Machine Shop would do it for less than 250. What I said is that you can do a DIY for $250 in parts. Like most Fabractors, they either have their own equipment, or they strike a partnership, or limited parternsih with a shop that will allow them to pump out X amount at a time and give 30% of the profit to the shop, etc...

I am seeing really only TWO kinds of workings with this kind of stuff. ONE: DIY, doing it for little to nothing, and taking some time or TWO: Thrid Parties that see volume and then go well I know the XXXX is selling for this, so I can make a killing, and price to high out of the area they are marketing. ( I mean searioulsy there are A LOT of people on this forum that PMS over the price of the HVX.. Enough SAID)

THAN I should say that there are the exceptions. Companies that just do it right. They know their market and they build and price accordingly. (i.e., IndiFocus, SpiderBrace, VividLight, those fabric matteboxes) They get more business and I think even out in the long run. IMOPH

That wasn't aimed at you Sur, someone said that in the thread. I do know if you search the diy thread that one person had them machined and it ran him 650 give or take. 800 doesn't seem to be that much of a stretch if you're in the market to buy. I diy'd mine because I get tired of paying for every cotton pickin' thing I need, and it seemed easy enough.
