This is a teaser for our short film "A Day Trip" we have been working on for the past few months. Comments, Suggestions, Critiques, Advice, would be fantastic!

AG HVX 200 (Stock Lens)

Thanks

Did you use special software like magic bullet to make it a film look with stock lens? It looks great without using 35mm adapters!

Most filmmakers do not have the best luck when looking for onscreen talent. They focus so much on the technical aspects that they lose focus in this area. (I speak from experience) All things being equal, the acting then sinks the production. Your images look extremely nice, esp. for a stock lens, but your actors are going to make this movie a cut above. Your lead looks especially charismatic.

One tiny critique. I would shorten the shot of her running away from the car. Just enough for shock value, then get off of it quickly.

Good luck!

Yeah we did. Magic bullet was the plug-in. Thanks.

Thanks a lot man. Haha that's what we are going for. content is king. Thanks again.

personally hvx stock lenses look much better then using 35mm adapter, just light it correctly.

my opinion.

This looks good. How long is the short going to end up being? Is it a thriller/horror, or both?

The short is looking at approximately 13-15 minutes.

Page is forbidden to me
error 403

I fixed the forbidden error.

Cool, how about gamma, matrix, etc
gamma v maybe, matrix, I don't know, we set everything to 0 to be safe.

Oh by the way, which program did you use with Magic Bullet? FCP or After Effect?

We just used magic bullet the one that's a software plug-in for FCP

I liked it... but I really think you could push the look a bit more. Strictly speaking from a post production perspective (using Magic Bullet even) you can really give this film a more dramatic look by simply pushing the contrast a bit more. Adding a bit of film grain may also add a bit of grit to your look which may assist in overall mood.
You could probably just experiment with some Magic Bullet presets and mess around with the setting.
Otherwise I really enjoyed it... the pacing of the trailer was good... audio seemed good too.
Keep up the great work!

That looks awesome. I have two questions. (1) I cant get my footage to look that clear. How and what settings did you use? (2) How did you compress that for the web. Its quality is awesome. I would love to know how you compressed it and what codecs you used.

hey guys the trailer looks amazing your audio is one thing that seemed to stick out to me. what audio setup did you guys use?
