"I ****ING HATE YOU" – a film by SABI

I'll stop by later this week to view some of this stuff Zak, and I'll bring some hash brown casserole while I'm at it.

I just checked out your screen grabs again. I am seriously impressed with them.

I know you said you did a little work with them in Color. I don't suppose you would be willing to share one of those same grabs unmodified? I am incredibly curious to see how much of that look was achieved in camera and how much in post.

The first one looks to be pretty close to how the light was in the room. Just pushed the orange a bit more it looks like.
The second grab I'm pretty sure the blue is all added. I belive it was just a white window as I was daylight balanced.

Not sure if any grain has been added or not.

Matt's description is accurate, and we did add a touch of grain as well. I'll post an ungraded version soon.

i'm getting antsy. i don't know if i can bear to sit on this thing for two months before getting it out there.

i think this might turn into the pilot episode for a web series. my producing partner just sent me a script treatment for a short that catches up with these same characters six weeks later. hmmm.....

Decisions, decisions.

How did the production go Zak? Any stories to relate (lights blowing up, MattyG getting hammered on set, lead actor lighting his trailer on fire?)

Also, how was it working w/ the smaller cams? Are you satisfied w/ your choice?

Tim.

I asked Matty G to clean the Brevis and he got completely obliterated huffing compressed air out of the can. other than that, the day went pretty smooth. the only hiccup we had was in the morning, trying to get my second Brevis running (flip switch, no buzzy?) and deciding which adapter would go on which cam, etc.

pretty uneventful (the fireworks were happening "on camera"!!! :cheesy:). really, most exciting moment was when the delivery guy showed up with our Indian food... we were shooting on my doorstep and he just walked right up into the scene, didn't give a f*ck at all, and started pulling out the receipt for me to sign. at which point i said "cut".

i love working with the HV20. I don't know what Matt feels about it (i made him shoot with a flipped image to impose a "searching for the shot" quality on the footage). but i love it. i needed the cameras to appear as though they were struggling to keep up with the action -- beautifully amateurish in a way. this was meant to mirror the spontaneity of the performances with the actual visual form of the piece. having a camera that small let's me do all the things I want to be able to do. the only drawback is the HDV codec, really. one day, someone is going to put out a 2K HD camera the size of my fist and I will be a happy, happy little filmmaker.

you probably think i'm joking about matt and the compressed air. he has a serious problem.

still at an 8 1/2 minute cut. i've put this baby to bed for the holidays. the only news i've got really is that this will probably be the "pilot episode" of an original web series.
