Tripod Mounting Hole Plate DVX 100 B

Two (of 4) of the tripod hole mounting screws have stripped out due to use of camera on a monopod. The weight of the camera has pulled the screws out and stripped the threads. It appears the receiving plate is mounted into a recessed area and "secured" with 4 small screws into the black plastic.

Anyone know how to make this repair?

I see two options:

1. Replace the small screws with larger one and resize (tap) the threads. My concern here is that these screws will also be stripped out, in time

2. Use an Epoxy glue with new screws and "permanently" attach the plate.

I no longer feel confident that the camera will be secured, especially if I am using a monpod over my head.

Any thoughts, suggestions? Experiences with this issue?

It appears the small mounting screws into soft plastic is a design defect. Otherwise the DVX has been a solid camera.
