Best hard case for DVX?

I wouldn't get that second one if you're considering either of the other two. I have a pelican myself for the dvx, and though everyone with more experience than me said I had to get one I wasn't completely convinced I absolutely needed it. I figured I'd just be really careful and not put my camera in any dangerous situations. The fact is that when you're dealing with the unknown and unexpected it'll save you a huge deal of stress to have your investment in a good case. I've only had my camera since summer but already it's been saved multiple times. I highly recommend a pelican, but I only hear good things about porta brace too.

Take a look at storm cases too - but the pelican or portabrace would work just as well. I'd avoid the second one as well.

I don't think a 1500 would be quite sufficient for a DVX100, I would try to get at least a 1520. You never know when you'll get a bunch of accessories that you'll want to carry around in the same case.

Thanks, thats what I was trying to figure out, I just didn't know what size to get. I knew pelican cases were solid. So you think 1520 would be good for the camera and a few accessories? Anyone know of a good place to buy it?

I have a Pelican 1550. Its a good size, no problem fitting the DVX in, and you have plenty of room for batteries, tapes, and other odds and ends. Pelicans are tough stuff.

I have the Pelican 1550 case for my DVX100. My case currently fits quite easily the camera, DC charger/PSU & cables, 2 x 5600mAh batteries and Century Optics 0.6X wide angle adapter..
I could fit more stuff if needed... Go for a Pelican, the case is practically indestructible, lightweight, air pressure auto relief valve for air travel and completely waterproof plus it float! Albeit it's gonna cost a few more bucks but your camera is worth it...

PS: Newt has the right idea

I just bought a Pelican 1510 because it fits in everyone's flight carryon specs. I wanted a bigger one than the 1510 but want to use it to fly with. Also, the 1510 has wheels on it. Got mine from Sailtech.com at a good price.

That's exactly what I need! A hard case (big enough for the camera and only a few accessories) that i can fly with. I'm going to europe for five months at the end of January, and plan on taking the camera/case with me... Thanks!

Must be some kind of mistake on their site. The 1510 is smaller than the 1550. Supposedly the 1510 is the largest carry on size and it does happen to come with wheels. I have read where others got by with the 1500, and I believe, w/o wheels.

So honestly, which case will do it?

The 1550 is too large for a carry on? That's the one I was planning on buying. It seems like there are too many different opinions about which case is the right size for the camera and only a few accessories. The most important thing is that I can fly with it and that it hold a camera and AC/DC cables...

that's the right picture, the 1510 is quite deceiving in terms of how big it looks in certain photos. they're actually almost the same size, it's just that the shape of them is quite different.

My 1510 just showed up yesterday, it's perfect. I also got the 1519 insert for it - basically it goes inside the lid and has an array of different shaped zipper pouches.

I hope this is the right place to go. Instead of the best hard case, what would you say the best soft case for the dvx would be?

I love my petrol cases. good quality build, and they are cheap from BH, although pota-brace is a standard for there soft cases, Kata are great too. I have petrol soft cases and porta brace hard cases, and love them both!

For a soft case, I'm probably going to opt for the Kata HB-207 Backpack. A friend of mine has one for his DVX and says it's great.
