right settings to shoot sports

hi, I'm new to video & pretty new to the dvx100. I used it recently to shoot a boxing match & set the shutter speed to 60 to capture faster action & hopefully get smoother results. The results I got were that the video looks sped up - a bit like those old keystone cops movies. Did I plug the wrong settings in? What should I set to shoot sports, if later I want to maybe do some slow motion? The audio is fine.

I've left a message in the FCP section, but if anyone here knows the best way to fix up the problem in post processing - please help me out.

thanks

so I've worked out it's not to do with shutter speeds, but probably something to do with my capture settings.

The clip information shows it's been captured at 25fps. I remember choosing scene F1 on the camera, and a shutter speed of 60. I think I set the progressive mode to off.

Can anyone explain what I've done wrong, and what the correct capture settings should be?

thanks,

Tongzie

well, the light didn't allow it without me raising gain, and actually I was happy with the results at 1/60. But my question was more to do with getting the footage captured in FCP accurately. I've shot in 50i on a DVX100BE in PAL, but the video is too fast. I captured it as DV-PAL 48hz.

Any ideas.

thanks,
