I bought my camera in July and then my 16GB p2 card in August....now they are free...wow...great news...

anyone wanna trade their card for an anton bauer battery and instant HD? lol

This comes up with every new rebate/offer, I think :)

I paid 1200 bucks a pop for two 8 gig cards when I bought my cam. I'm not pissed though. :) Some are. I just don't see it. I'm not pissed that my 2700 dollar one year old laptop is probably worth about 800 bucks (if that) now, either. Such is life. You buy what you need, when you need it, and you don't look back.

Later,
Jason

And what makes it worse is that I still have a couple hundred bucks to still pay off for that card...ahh..oh well.

It's the pain of being an early adopter. Or in this case, an adopter. :)

Really, the HVX itself has held its value quite well, especially since there's been no "A" model this year.

We are owners of an HVX200 and you talk about being pissed?

Tom_w who has his HVX stolen probably is.... or the guy from dvx-user who by accident dropped his camera into water is p***** ....

The guy who buys the HVX from EBay and never sees the cam or receives the cam half a year after ordering it in november... THAT guy is p*****

We are the lucky ones who own an HVX and already use(d) it.

Everybody can profit from any promotion... the 16GB card is NOT free - you have to buy an HVX to get it. So do new users and so do we... so nobody has an advantage.

I know you did not mean this seriously, but also I am very grateful for this camera and would never envy anybody who got it cheaper because it's an NTSC-version or because he has any promotion that we can't get in Europe (PAL-users can order it anyway... and get it shipped to PAL-country).

The only thing I got with my camera was the good price of 7000 dollars (!!) - YES, that was a good price for Europe last year... - and a free smile on my face when I opened the box...

I paid 45 USD only for shipping of Barry's book plus DVXuser-battery (that arrived after 5 weeks waiting without any sign...).

Am I p**** ? - Heck NO! - I am an HVX-owner!!!

Why be pissed? This is the normal course of technology. You had to know it'd get cheaper eventually. I knew that too but chose not to wait a year to get a camera I needed at the time.

I never said I didn't love the camera. I'm just disappointed that I had bought the card at the end of August...and now 2 months later they are free.

tough titties...

I paid about £1100 pounds each for my first 2 8-gig cards in the UK, then about £600 each for the next 2.

We got a free bag and battery in the UK. You got a free 8-gig card and barry's book.

You guys had full NTSC support from the beginning, we've sucked blood from a stone, and have just had all our PAL options recognised in FCP with 6.0.2

Am I pissed? Not on your nelly. It's the price to pay here in PAL land to use the camera to it's full potential, and how I love this camera...

Please do confirm this.
Where is the official announcement? link?

Is this worldwide?
Do I get the HVX in Germany for the old price with free 16GB P2 starting today?

We got no cards with our HVX. That was back in the 70s when they barely had 4GB. We still don't know what the 2GB cards were for.

You should not be pissed at all,

I bought my 4gig at about 880euros last year, which by the way it's the one an only card I've used to shoot from short docs to corporate vids, music videos and a tv series pilot, all of them in 720p.

I'm now getting my 16gig card for 740 euros.

That's life...

Hi,

When I graduated high school I was drafted and sent to Vietnam.

Want to compared pissed?

Get over it.

This is a promotion by Panasonic USA. This particular promotion is for USA customers only.

Every territory is free to set their own promotion. Last time I was in Australia, Panasonic Aus was giving away a free 8GB card, when the US wasn't giving away any card. Now the USA offers a 16GB card. Point is, every territory is autonomous and is free to offer whatever promotion they want to.

Well, you US Americans have to suffer sometimes from thoughtless government decisions, but when it comes to marketing you guys are the very best in the world.

US-marketing:

I wanted to buy something else, but your promotion deal makes me buy 5

European marketing:

I wanted to buy your product, because it is superior, but after talking to the marketing department (and seeing your stupid commercials), I am forced to buy the competing product, although I know it is inferior and more expensive.

Hmmmmm.... looks like daktulus is completely pissed now... :-BlackEye(DBG

....

I think Sony EX1 owners are "pissed".... and my neighbour is definitely pissed too, because he even doesn't know what HDTV is.... And my toilet is pissed each single day.... but never complains ;)

EVERYBODY can profit from this promotion from or in the USA. If you buy the camera and get a free card in the USA, nobody will check your passport... Go there and buy it or have someone in the USA buy it for you...

Thanks to internet we can profit from ANY promotion on the world. Well... ALMOST any promotion: I wanted to get a "free prenatal check" and they rejected... because I'm neither pregnant nor a woman... :violin:

Problem is, European customers would need a PAL version, and you don't get those in the US... and even dealers who carry PAL versions (like B&H), well, those won't have the free 16GB card because those aren't sourced from Panasonic USA.
