New music video with thousands of mannequins? Yes, sir.

Here's the latest video I did for the local Austin band Dremnt the End for their song "Part of Me".

Three day shoot (two with band, one for B-roll of all the mannequins, actress.)

Stock HVX.

I served as director/DP/editor. My brother serving as producer/all around go-to grip guy. Two person crew essentially.

Enjoy.

Great job. I really liked the lighting in that. Set a mood that I think went perfectly with the song.

Solid video man.

Tight. Compliments to your brother on his producer / all around go-to grip guy skills. I thought the lighting (and camerawork) was top notch. Did you have a jib on that or just dolly?

Yes, really good two person crew job on this video. I like the mood, lighting and camera work.

that was awesome.

the fact that it was all stock HVX should really show a lot of people how powerful the HVX really is by itself.

Jeff I'm always blown by your work... It's always well put together, nothing overdone just the right amount of flair and cinematography. Well done!!

what was the light setup for this shoot? (gels/light kit) what was the setting on the HVX?

Hey glad you liked it man and appreciate the kind words!

The lighting set up was extremely simple. Just one Arri light kit (1k, 650w, 300w and a 150w) and about 8 fluorescent lights that I bought from Home Depot to light the background and any of the mannequin b-roll. It was actually a lot of fun to shoot all the mannequin stuff for an entire day after a pretty intense two day shoot with the band. No pressure, just 8 hours in a really dark, creepy mannequin warehouse with classical music play in the background. Spooky fun.

Thanks for the critiques guys!

Everyone brags about using a 35mm lens adapter and DOF lenses, but honestly we used the stock HVX lens and thought it was a fantastic lens. I'm not saying you're not going to have great results with 35mm lenses, of course, I have some Nikons on order that should be there next week, but I just mean they did a great job with the lens because we were able to get some shots that I thought weren't even possible with that type of zoom lens. Like where the first 3-4 inches were in focus and then the background was out of focus, I didn't realize that was possible on a stock zoom lens...

Did you use cinema D or something else?

I wish I could say I slaved over those for hours, but it was just a new plug-in FCP had.

I never seen that one till just now... Well it's good to see that you just use the HVX to best of your knowledge, instead of not trying at all.
