Is Premiere Pro 1.5 forward compatible?

Dear friends,

I currently have Adobe Premiere Pro 1.5 installed in my editing workstation & all my video projects so far are in the Premiere Pro 1.5 project format. I'm wondering if I upgrade to Premiere Pro 2.0 & if there's any problem that I may need to revert back to Premiere Pro 1.5, then can the new project files opened & saved using Premiere Pro 2.0 be recognized & opened using Premiere Pro 1.5 again later on? Is Premiere Pro 1.5 forward compatible with Premiere Pro 2.0?

Thank you very much for the info Mikko. Since all my video files are using the Premiere Pro 1.5 version, I better stick with Pro 1.5. Just in case I install version 2.0 of Premiere & later have to revert back to version 1.5. Thanks again. Just wondering if there's any 3rd-party plug-in out there that can be used to enable Premiere Pro 1.5 to recognize Premiere Pro 2.0 files.

I had no problems opening 1.5 projects in 2.0 and continuing to work in 2.0. What reason would you have to revisit the 1.5? You can always keep a backup copy of the 1.5 somewhere, too.

Thanks for all your helpful replies. Really? I didn't know it was possible to keep both Adobe Premiere Pro 1.5 & 2.0 installed in the same PC. My concern is that if anything happens to Pro 2.0 & I need to revert back to Pro 1.5 for some reason, then I may not be able to open my existing Pro 2.0 project files in Pro 1.5 again because Pro 1.5 is not forward compatible with Pro 2.0.
 
I had Premiere Elements, versions 1, 2 and 3 installed on the same computer, and they all worked. One thing I did notice is that double clicking on a project file resulted in it being opened by version 3, irrespective of which version it was created in. I got round it by opening the version of the software I wanted to use, then opening the project.


I'm not sure if Pro behaves in the same way as I only ever use 1.5

Any idea on how to open 1.5 projects in CS3?


I just upgraded and the clips are there but the timeline is completely dead for some reason. None of the old assembled footage and I can't even add footage.
