Letus Extreme and Sony EX1 test short

You can read about my experiences on my blog here and the absolute disaster that happened after I finished the shoot followed by the incredible customer service from Hien.

Click on "EX1 and Letus Extreme" to see the short.

One click thing, I didn't zoom in enough a few times on the GG, any slight vignettes are either because of that, or done in grading. Nothing to do with the issue some owners are having with their EX1.

Three first shots are clean, without the Letus, as I was planning to do lots of clean tests too, but the more I used the Letus the more I couldn't take it off!

Update: Just noticed a flash frame. How crap is that? Will fix it and re-upload it!

Real nice footage Philip, damn the EX1 footage with a Letus looks good!!

There are two minor weird things I noticed about your footage though. At about the 1/4th of the short (sorry, I couldn't get the exact running time), the portrait shots of the two smiling girls and the shy boy seem to shift slightly in color. Is that because there were some flashing lights behind you changing the color balance, like a neon sign or a vehicle signaling to turn? The other thing is at about 5/6th of the short, there are windows in the upper right that seem to flicker. Could that be the poor quality of the appartment's lighting? Or something related to the EX1's framerate?

Great short man, I love the ambience you gave, especially the timelapses, they look gorgeous! Hope you post more footage of your EX on your blog soon!!

Yeah, the light flicker on the faces is the lights from Piccadilly Circus neon billboard. The other flicker actually was happening to my eye as well as the camera. I noticed it whilst filming it

Am I right saying the rig sometimes lacks edge to edge sharpness or was it enhanced afterwards? Is some raw footage possible? :)

wide open in low light with my 18mm lens on did mean edge edge was not as good . two stops down pin sharp but ut was too dark then

Easily some of the best adapter footage out there, Phil. Nicely done. I'm actually testing the Letus for our local Sony reseller today on their demo EX1 - looking forward to that :)

Wow--that is beautiful footage. Props to you Philip and I agree--some of the best adapter footage I've ever seen. What lens(es) did you have on the Letus?

Nice footage!!!

A question on your LEX.

My friend received his this week and we were checking it out with different lenses. The thing looks beautiful, but we couldn't focus it at infinity with any of the lenses.
We even tried changing the back focus, but it doesn't go back enough.
It seems that in your footage you didn't have any problems with focusing. Did you have to modify it or yours worked good from the get go?

I am still waiting for mine, but I want to be ready when I finally get it.

Thank you for your post and your answer.

Beautiful. The crosswalk footage was my favorite. I really need to add a L35X to my arsenal. Just awesome.
