Best footage you've got?

I'm curious to see some of the best HD100 stuff around. I keep hearing a lot about what a great image it produces but most of the stuff I've seen has been from comparison shoots that end up producing pretty boring results from all cameras. I'm curious what some of the most gorgeous footage this camera has produced looks like. I've seen amazing stuff from the HVX and the XLH1 but not from the HD100. Stills or moving images would be fine but I'm a PC user so I can't handle that mt2 stuff.

Windows can play them. if you download vlc player. it plays m2t. files fine. go to videolan.org and download it. its free and plays practically any file.

Wow! Footage that good is rare in these parts. Just curious, how much does it cost for a filmout like that. I want to plan on how many banks I have to rob. Seriously, I loved it. The opening shot with the train had a far away feel to it. (A good example of that other world the film look gives.)

David,
Come on!!!!
"Stills or moving images would be fine but I'm a PC user so I can't handle that mt2 stuff."

m2t is PC

^
Yeah, yeah, I know nothing.

I was told media player classic could run them but it wouldn't so I assumed it was a Mac vs. PC thing. I got VLC and it plays them fine. Out of curiosity, what format is m2t exactly? Why are people using it rather than quicktime?

I agree.

In fact, the only camera I'm seeing any work from is the HVX.

What are the other cameras up to? Is anyone using them for anything ?

The "other camera's" have left the building. You'll have to step outside the dvxuser.com world to catch up.

I checked Steph's clip. Out of curiosity, was that promotional material put out by JVC? Anyway, I was impressed with much of it. Particularly the section entitled Drama looked very nice. Oddly enough the section called "Indie" looked awful. I guess they don't respect independent filmmakers that much.

Anyway, thanks for sharing. While I don't like the footage as much as what I've seen from the HVX or the XLH1, this certainly demonstrates to me that any of these cameras could produce a very worthy image and they are in fact much closer than not (though I will insist to my dieing day that the Sony FX1 and Z1 are pieces or crap!)

It does seem like the hvxs are getting all the work. I was offered a job taping a friends wedding with my dvx100a, but I think I'll refuse. I've never done a wedding, I suck at the camera and besides, knowing I'm a friend she'll probably assume I won't really charge her anyway.
David, I agree on those guys having no respect for independent filmmakers.

No, not a promo put out by JVC. It was put out by SMS and edited by szn89Productions Chicago using mostly Chicago shooters and some familiar people from the web community (take a look at the credits). It's funny you mention the Indie portion. That was shot by some students at Columbia and we put it in. The point of the video was not the content, per se. The point was to transfer to 35mm film and look at the results as well as nail down a workflow that was cost effective and easy to replicate.

Mission accomplished months ago...

My regaurds to SMS but I'm sure there are plenty of indie filmmakers that can produce a better look than that. I mean, I'm in film school and I think I've accomplished better lighting and colors with a DVX100.

Still, other parts of the deme really imperssed me.

Let's see it. I find that extremely hard to believe, but if you have some sample footage, please post it.

Funny; but how about a link instead ?

John,

Check out post #4. The best footage I've seen from any camera online. Check out the nature scene with the berries. Bottom left corner - the spider web glinting in the sunlight. Talk about definition!
