Good Site For Alternative Brand 20$ish Softies

I found this site:

The sell softie windscreens that look pretty good in quality for extremely cheap -- about $20. I personally can't afford much more than that right now. Does anyone know how the quality of these will compare to the more expensive softies from other companies? Has anyone tried them? They look great.

Here's the deal... I looked at the link yesterday and I figured that somebody else would have posted a response for you, but since you have no replies as of yet. Those screens would be better compared to something like the Windtech Mic Muff which sells for around $39.

There's not much risk in spending $22 on a fur jacket, but look at the total cost including shipping and you'll see that it's not something to get really excited about. There are other companies besides Windtech that make those also... probably for a little less.

A Softie is by no means in the same league as a regular blimp/zepplin type of windscreen... but a jacket over a standard foam isn't in the same league as a Softie. You certainly won't be throwing your money away since it is only $20-something dollars and it will be significantly better then the foam alone, but that's not saying a whole lot because the foam alone is nearly worthless.

A Softie has a central core of extremely open-celled foam that mimics the dead-air space in a blimp... surrounded by a thinner area of regular foam that's like a normal windscreen... and that is wrapped in a permanent (and perfectly fitting) fur jacket. So while you can look at that and think $109 is a rip-off for what you get... it's probably only in proportion to the "good deal" of spending something between $25-$40 for the fur jacket component alone.

Anyone know if they make a softie for the on camera mic of the HVX200?

I have a zeppelin for my ME66 but sometimes it would be nice to have a little more protection when I'm just using the on camera mic.
Micover Windscreens says their HVX model is for the off camera mic.

I personally own 2 windscreens from the micover company. They hold up well and the price was reasonable $19.95 plus shipping. Most of the other windscreens out there were $40-$150 plus shipping. I'm not sure how big this company is but when I emailed them they treated me like a valued customer and reply was fast. I would give them 4 out of 5 stars on service and quality. Hope this helps you.

They don't but you can email them I think they make custom orders.

I am curious about the Micover slip-on. My assumtion is that the Puffin line is similar to the Rycote Softie in construction. But the Slip On line is supposed to attach to the stock foam you get with the mic. The foam that I have is pretty flimsy (AT-897), and I'm not sure how that would work. Anyone have experience with those?
