SHOW your support for keeping the Hydra/Andromeda technology available!

You know, I have no idea, but the Reel Stream forum membership is 456, so I'm assuming maybe half of those people own it... but I'm just guessing.

Andromeda was a great product, but I'm sure that a lot of people did not buy it because they didn't want to have their camera attached to a laptop.

I'm sure the Hydra would have sold a lot more because carrying around your laptop would be a small price to pay for the huge quality increase the Hydra was going to offer at an amazing low price.

It's a shame Juan sold the technology, but I wish him the best. He must have really been on to something in order to sell it.

You have my vote as far as wanting the new owners of the technology to offer the Hydra to the public! It's just what I am looking for.

You know, I wonder why people (Juan/Jeremy) didn't approach their customer base with the issue before entering into dialog with a company to sell. I'm sure there have been other products that have been saved by just managing and being real with the Customer Base.

I think that it probably came down to living and life support issues. Not having the money to market the product will hurt. I never saw any ads for the product online or in print. People can't buy what they don't know about. To this day, I mention the technology to folks and they go, "wow", "where can I find out more".

If nothing changes and Andromeda is gone forever, I guess I'll just get a 35mm adaptor for my DVX and go forward anyway. I do have a HV20 on the way and will just do what I do.

Anyone who has worked with Andromeda knows that if it cost $1000 more per unit, they would still buy it. That said, I think ReelStream fell into money trouble because it was priced too low, which lead to no money for advertizing.

I feel for you guys... a fellow cameraman here in Oz has invested in Hydra and I hope he does not get burnt... he was very excited at the last ACS meeting...

Cheers

I see several hundred views for this post, we should have several hundred signatures on that petition!

The big issue here is getting the word out into the community, many people are still unaware that this technology is in danger. If you have a local list serve for filmmakers in your area, please use it to get the word out. Remember, the Hydra was going to be FAR more user friendly than Andromeda, and that created a huge potential customer base. Lets show them just how big that customer base really was.
