Types of lenses

that lense is very slow for an adapter.

auto focus lenses work well with adapters. They tend to cost more. People with slr cameras tend to get autofocus lenses, so they can take pictures with autofocus. You dont have to get manual lenses.

primes tend to be sharper than zoom. Prime are also usually faster.

There are alot of resourses on this site that go over this topic in detail. I would do a search under 35 adapter or lense choice.

Yes, I just noticed that it is f3.5. If DOF adapters takes AF lenses, I would like to buy all my lenses in AF. One more thing, what are "primes" lenses versus lenses that are not "prime"?

Yes, I have read great reviews on the SGPro but I don't remember if the SGPro is pre-flip or not. In addition, I believed the unit looks a bit like lunch box. As far as asthetic goes, I prefer to the Brevis but I think the pre-flip module is not available yet that is why I decided to go with the Letus35 Extreme.

Aesthetic? Are referring to the image it yields or how well it matches your pants? If it's the former, from my experience, I find the SG in a different league in terms of build quality and image. Perhaps the only one that may compete or exceed it is the Letus Extreme. I now have both and plan to do A/B testing of both this week just to clear it up.

The build of the Letus Extreme is on a whole different level than any adaptor low cost adaptor out there. Nobody comes close. It's lens mount, battery compartment, threading mechanism, and overall machining is incredible. It's as if Arri or Chrosziel made it. Just on build alone, I know it has the competition pissing in their pants or busy at the drawing board. It's truly a capitalistic epiphany. The lens mount is a crucial area by which to judge a manufacturer. Some manufacturers have solid mounts others have metal to barrel screws that are a ***** to line up and can't take the torque of a day's worth of focus pulls. What LE did wit their is statement in simplicity and functionality. The extended cylinder with tight tolerances on the sleeve require tightening only one Allen Key for a mount far more sturdy than anyone's multiple screw mounts. One manufacturer had such a crappy mount I sent it back untested. The threading to camera, lens mount, rod mount chain must be rock solid to assure, precise and unnoticeable focus pulls as well as maintaining lens alignment and back focus.

But of all the image flippers, I find the SG unparalleled in terms of edge to edge, bokeh, grain, alignment, durablity, etc. It also has no issue with dust and can take much higher shutters speeds and Fstops than the competition. In terms of looks, give me a square piece of metal over a carbon tube any day.

Regarding your lens choices: stay with primes and buy the lowest stop you can afford. Light loss is a huge issue with all these adaptors. The extra money you spend on getting a low stop pays for itself in terms the smaller lighting rental. And remember most still lenses do not look great wide open. If it's a 1.4, try to avoid shooting below a 2.0. If it's a 2.0, try to keep it above a 2.8. The difference is quite real.

Thanks, Tim, for the great advice about the lenses and their usage. Right now, I'm torn between the Brevis and the Letus35 Extreme. I'm also in the process or reading more reviews on both of this adapters including the SG Pro.

Dxmetal, are you saying that zoom lens will not work with mattebox in front of the lens? Which means prime (fixed) lens will not have that problem, correct?
