Cheap Redrock M2 copy from India?

and phill, don't you own enough adapters already? why would you bother researching this?
did you end up getting the SGpro after the review? i'm thinking of getting one.

cheers

Hi Patrick,

You can't have enough adaptors! But, seriously I am on their mailing list and it was in my inbox this morning so had to share.

Actually you can have too many adaptors...I am sticking with my Brevis and Letus Extreme, I think it is time to sell my Redrocks. It's sad but I never use them anymore.

No I didn't get one as I was happy with my Brevis and now with the Extreme and doubly happy to have them both! Also, his wait times were just too long. Hopefully he has that sorted now.

The SGPro is good but I would wait to see how well it works with the Brevis Flip. It will probably make it a much neater unit.

For my money the Letus Extreme is the most attractive adaptor, clean line, internal batteries that are easy to change and a solid switch. Appearances ARE important out there, trust me!

hahahahhahaah phill being new to the game :D
Just because someone is an experienced cameraman, doesn´t mean he knows 35mm adapters...
Especially those used to 2/3 inch cameras or 16/35mm.
I should have said "new to the ADAPter game" though...

the SGpro plus a Cinevate flip module is exactly what i'm planing on getting. in my opinion the sgpro has the best looking footage out of all the adapters. i was going to get the brevis but i didn't like the fuzzy bokeh and the CF3 footage i've seen doesn't seem to fix it all that much. the letus EX looks to have the same fuzziness as CF1. but the one thing they cant be beat on is lowlight capabilities.
i'm pretty sure the flip module should work with the sgpro. they both have 72mm threads.... and i have hope :D if they do work it'll be one damn fine combo
how do you find CF3 on the brevis? i've only seen two clips from it. do you know what i mean when i talk about the fuzziness?

sort of. The cf3 only works with VERY fast lenses otherwise you see the pattern. I use cf3 for my anorexia parts two and three and loved it. Very sharp and lovely shallow dof. Its just not for everyday use. Cf1 is still the best one

I think I have heard of the SGPRO...it looks like a rip off of the Indian one to me. If I were them I would sue that Wayne bloke from Brighton!

Nice one phil :) I think we are due to meet up again!

We are releasing a flip module for the SGpro in 3 - 4 weeks :)

phill, just watched your anorexia part 3 clip.
on the wide shots there are severe edge sharpness issues... was this done in post or due to the lens or CF3?

wayne, i sent you a PM

thanks

Just say NO!

Just say NO!

My thoughts.

Looks like the unit was either designed with a built in paraxial shift or it was assembled by monkeys. The unit is clearly not precision. You can see by there own image it is not lens centric and the whole unit looks to be mounted at a 2 or 3 degree downdraft. I came to this forum armed with some good optical knowledge and then learned much from the masters like Dennis. This knock off from India is just that.... Cheap Cheap Cheap..... Don't be cheap, don't buy it. Buy a Brevis or other proven units.....

Listen to me. I'm from the future. I just haven't been there yet!

I still think it needs a propper review rather than us writing it off just from the photos.

I'm going India in january for a while but I'm buggered if I'm going up north in the winter to check it out.

Are there any Inidan based HVX or DVX shooters on here?

Or is there anyone with the right credientials to be able to ask for a review sample?

On a side note, cheap labor does not necessarily mean sweat shop. Its not always like that. India can be quite a modern progressive country, just from the outside we tend to stereotype.

Milezee's right. Alot of hollywood effects and post production is out sourced to india, and microsoft has a major development office there, amongst other high profile companies.

I live and own a production house in india, ours is a really large film industry(bastardized into bollywood, tollywood, etc.) which spans into 4-6 languages. There are many rental companies which have invested top dollar in top class equipment arris/panthers/4k spirit blah blah. There is a lot of talent here but unfortunately the dollar - rupee conversion is still 1 - 40 so some people try to seize an opportunity when they see it.I hope nobody here at dvxuser will be so quick to judge without consideration.

hi j,
its on a seperate thread, not sure if i should get into it here but anyways...
it would be awesome if someone who owned a zeiss 50mm and FD50 mm could actually show everyone (screen grabs/mov) how radically different/or not is the quality of the footage?
i know the chances are slim cuz if i owned an F mount why would i own an FD mount but stranger things have been know to happen...
