That 3rd one is great, just magical... but that fourth is sharp and the color just leaps out of the screen.

For the black and whites, rather than doing a desaturate try to do the gradient mapping with the black to white... it will give you a starker contrast that sometimes gives greater detail, especially with images that are closer to 2D.

Also, consider boosting/cutting the Luminance values on any of the RGB channels for more contrast. Or, you can copy one or two channel's data, put that on a layer above, change its blending mode to give more contrast, using layer masks to isolate regions.

one of my first shots with the Nikon 10mm fisheye on my D80. no correction

A little HDR from today at the zoo... great autumn colors and this cool rail... needs a bit of work but I like the rail as a barrier from childhood, just wish I had brought a tripod and some longer lenses.

Great shot Jeremy (howve u been, by the way?) I've been wanting to do some HDR stuff....never really took the time to look into it. Is i a difficult process?

It is a pretty easy process as long as you have a camera that has auto braketting. If you need to manually adjust the exposure for every shot then it is slightly more of a pain in the ass, but ultimately, it is very easy and a great way to get either a unique look or a massive lattitude of dynamic range in an image.

Happy Thanksgiving everybody! A buddy of mine showed up for turkey today with his latest addition to the family... so naturally I grabbed the Nikon and snapped a couple shots for him. Nothing fancy, just a few snapshots that make me smile, so I thought I'd post 'em here to give you guys a smile also.

Hiya all.

We recently had a new addition to the family. I shot these as SOON as my wife got home from Hospital. Not the best of the best, but he does have my eyes. Shot on a D70 with generic glass, and in one hell hurry.
