HVX + M2 Adapter super low budget hook-ups

Hey guys I just got my M2 adapter HD package for the hvx200 with a Nikon mount. Lol..I didnt want to buy a mattebox or a french flag for $1200 +...but without one..it'd look ugly. And I'd also probably have to buy a marshall HD lcd display for $1500+...So what I did was go the cheap way. I ended up paying $150 total to make it look decent..my opinion. Here check it out. All I bought was:
1. Ventilation support (mattebox looking thing)- 6 bux
2.2 Hose Clamps, probably the biggest one available at lowes or home depot ( 1to hold the mattebox with the rods together and another one to clamp the dvd player.)- 3 bux
3. LG DVD Player with AV-In (7") with a flip function (to revert the upside down image distorted by the M2 adapter)

Here are a few pix:

wow that's for sure "Rebel without a cause!" It always amazes me how people can make what they have work for what they need. I think it says a lot about the spirit of modern filmmaking especially in the indie, low-budget, starting-out range.

What happened to your 503 head?

lol..home depot mattebox. that's cool i did that once too... but the monitor? that thing can't be even close to high enough rez to focus with...

So do you ever get that "OMG your setup is amazing" look from directors you work with?... or is it more of "OMG what is that?"

Hi Kyle:

What the hell is that gray stuff on your tripod head? Is that gum or did the tripod melt or is it Bondo?

Grinning,

Dan

That's like buying a brand new mercedes and taping the front of a 76 pacer on it. I'm in the same position as you, I need a Matte Box and a Monitor but I don't need either of them for a good look. I can appreciate what you're trying to do but......... I dunno, to each is own good luck.

lol long story...the gray stuff is epoxy...haha someone ran over my tripod with his car..and the head cracked...so i tried to glue it back on with epoxy...but it later broke...so there it is...haha....I know the screen isnt in HD, but it can at least show me the frame flipped back to normal...and the focus isnt taht bad...i can at least find the subject to be the least blurry instead of being completely blurry...it'll take a matter of time to get used to it lol. BUt thanks everyone for the posts...haha...it's my ghetto/low budget high school camera. I'm loving it. =]

Man I wish I had a rig like that in high school, all I had was a Sharp Viewcam 8mm (Class of 1995) youre a lucky guy. I thought I was the man when the school let me borrow the Pansonic AG-456 S-VHS camera. How times have changed.
