OK a Japanese magazine has compared these cameras and posted images online for comparison.

This was posted in another section but most would miss it so I thought it would be an idea to post it here so more could view and evaluate the images and give their opinions.

Comparing the 720 60P images, the Sony gives a sharper image, probably due to the superior Fuji lens.

At 1080 60i, the difference is even greater as I see it. You can read the small words in the Sony images but not so easily on the HVX images.

Thoughts?

About what I'd expect from a still shot, no surprises there. Now let's see some action, some motion, some real-world, some rolling shutter/non-rolling shutter comparos, etc.

the HVX stuff, while not as sharp apperars to render the colors better, the sony stuff has a Green hue to it??

I actually expected to SONY to SMASH the HVX, based on "On paper Specs" which it clearly doesnt looking at these stills.

I expect the Sony to be sharper and clearer and have less noise, based on the paper specs, and to have the typical "Sony" look. And that looks like exactly what we have here. If it wasn't sharper and clearer, then they would have wasted having 4x as many pixels and 1/2" chips, and costing 25% more!

The unknown factor is what effect, if any, the rolling shutter and long-GOP differences will play in actual footage. That's the only real potential "gotcha"; other than that it all looks pretty good.
