Two Films for 36 hour film festival

So we decided to do something crazy this year for the 36 hour film festival here in Wilmington NC. The 36 hour film festival is where you basically have 36 hours to make an 8 minute movie. We did not feel that 8 minutes was enough time, so we decided to make two eight minute films, both in the same 36 hours.

I was the DP for both films and the director for a small portion of one. All shot on one HVX200.

The crime: I really liked it, my favourite scene was the "Taxi driver style" when they're at the house and you dolly revealing the man outside the door and the crooks on the other side, great shots. I really liked the mood of the movie, it reminds me of Guy Richie's early films.

Great high angle shot of the suit case at the mob boss's office, loved it.

The criminal: watching it right now.

wow! those both looked very good. the hvx looked really nice in those low light scenes. did you use any kind of light kit at all? very impressive.

Thanks for the comments!

abalex: We were very lucky on that shot with the door. The door was actually one of those two part sliding doors with, so we just slid the one side in and stuck a dolly in there.

twerp: It was actually heavily lit during some of the interior scenes, and the night ally exterior. We used a 4 light Lowel kit.

ilauzirika: Thank you very much. I did not even think that we were going to get it compared to the look of all of the other films that were made, and alot of other teams used the m2. But I am grateful that we won the award.

That just proves equipment won't win it for ya, its you!

Nice shorts man

The dude he picked up on the side of the road in The Criminal was in another movie that was submitted for All Hollows Fest. I forget his name.

Thanks Como! That's right that equipment wont win it for you, but it sure does help. Those M2's look amazing. I might just buy one soon.

Comexback_kid: Yeah, his name is Shaun O'Rourke. He was in the Hollows Fest film called "Unawakening". He is a good actor and I was very happy to have him in our film.

Thanks for the comments!
