Just Curious would a HVX short be eligible for Oscar selection

DVX originated films have been put up for oscars so the HVX would be fine.

They just require you to blow up to a projection-able format.

Films that have been eligible for an Oscar include one being shot on a PD150.

Again -- DVX films have been nominated for Oscars, and they're 720x480. The Oscar winner for best doc was shot partially on an HD100, and that's 1280x720. Neither of those meet the specs you're talking about, yet they were all nominated for or won Oscars.

So don't sweat it. Just convert your source footage to the appropriate submission format.
