Nikon 85mm, 1.8, For Sale

In the first picture there seems to be a sizable spec of dust on one of the elements.

Is this inside the lens? If so, does it show up as a dark spot on playback?

damn, i just started a bid on ebay for this lens ( a 1.4 though ) wish i had waited.

now when it says auto on it, does this means its stuck at 1.8?
It seems it would be difficult to add a follow focus as there are no proper gears for this, what could be done to use it?

It goes from 1.8 through 16. I use Redrock gears on it. I'll send it with a gear for another 25.00. They're great I use them and Zacuto gears (for my bigger lenses). Adjustable and increase the diameter significantly which makes focus pulls alot easier.

i meant using it on 35mm adapters. as i have heard that some iris's dont close unless they are attached to a magnetic, or electric source...

What else would I use gears on a still lens for?

There's NO DUST or SCRATCHES, you can use FOCUS RINGS on it and its Iris will go up and down until you blue in the face. The serial number is on one of the pics. There are sites that'll give you the complete specs and history if you have the sn (that's why I shot it). I'm an DP - owner-operator, not a shady re-seller or Ebay junkie. If you don't like it, you can return it in three days (just take care of the shipping), and I'll refund you.

I'm selling it because I bought a better lens (85mm, f 1.4)

Just to make things more interesting, I'm also selling a 35mm 2.0 in great condition. It'll be posted as soon as I find out how much KEH sells it for than I'll undercut it (no overhead). I'm springing for the 35mm f 1.4.

damn, i alrady won a 2.0 on ebay for slightly more... should have bought thi sucka off of u

Is this still available, Tim? I saw this posting a while back...I figured it had sold already.

I am not very familiar with Nikon lenses. When you turn the focus ring, does it move up and down the lens? I just bought a Nikon 50 f/1.4 and when I turn the focus ring, it moves along the lens, which I fear will be a nightmare once I buy a FF and rings.

I know you've used this lens with FF before, but I'm just curious.

this happens with all lenses. the movement. but i too am curious how one can attach a follow focus although the entire thing moves.

btw, im looking for an 85 as i have to return the one i bought on ebay ( full of scratches ) but looking for AI or AIS, not non AI ( just for consistancy of my lenses )

It doesn't happen with all lenses. The front element will move in and out on some cheaper lenses, but the actual focus ring doesn't move. Maybe that is different on these older lenses, but that is definitely not the case on newer lenses.

well, i have every single lens that i own in front of me and they all move to a certain degree, perhaps a few milimeters, you can tell by looking at the focus chart lines, they get smaller and bigger which means that the focus ring is moving forwards and backwards ever so slightly.
