Opinions on Cinevate Matte Box?

Hi Tim:

I am sure that the Red Rock will be nice, I am thrilled with the quality of my Red Rock FF, it's an outstanding piece of gear. But the Cinevate can be bought today, the Red Rock? Who knows when? It's been 'coming soon' for as long as I have looked at the Red Rock site.

Best,

Dan

Give me a full report. I'm curious about how well the filter trays work. Do they slide in and out well. Light seal good? Are the filters secure when the trays are out.

The main reason I'm holding out for the RR are the features: 3 rotating stages. Much fun with grads and polas. Also a swing way. And it's designed from the ground up.

Guys

Great news, Brian. Hope it's about an official release date and price! I still want one.

I think we need to nickname this mattebox from Redrock. The "heavy hitter" (because it's bang for your buck) the "swinger", or the MMB (Massive Mighty Box) are my choices

Brian,
I am holding out my mattebox purchase until Wed !!! Also planning to get your FF setup. Any chance of introducing a speed-crank ? or know of somewhere that sells a decent priced speed-crank ?

DX - one thing at a time here :)

Great on the microFF - it's a fantastic piece of gear. The accessory port is a standard arri port so any speed crank that fits it will work.

Cheers

Brian

Thank God. I was a heartbeat away from buying a Chroziel. I'm on the list. Pretty early too. Can't wait to say godbye to my Indian hunk of junk. So what's the ETA on the remote focus. I need that almost as bad as the MB.

Keep up the good work. Great to see something designed from the ground up.

Cinevate looks like a VOCAS knock off at a 1/3 the price. ... My guess Cinevate is probably a step up or two in materials or you would've heard about by now. Just hope the VOCAs legal team doesn't serve him.

It must be something like this...

It seems to me Vocas visits -like all the LetUs/Cinevate/RedRock/Red/etc guys- DVXUSER.COM.
That's a good thing for us.
Sorry Dennis.

Wow! Looks like the Indians have copied the Cavision rod and rod base system as well.

I am very satidfied so far with Dennis' matte box, it works very nicely and was a great price.

Also looks like this one has a two filter stage that rotates as a single unit. Is this the same for the cinecate one?
As for copying, after 100 years how much design can you put into a mattebox anyway.

To be honest with the small price difference I don't see why anyone would get the indian version. Don't see any of them talking to their customers on this board.
