Any HD digital video cams have as good of light @ 1/60 30fps as HVX @ 2fps 350d

How does the HVX @ 2fps, 350d shutter compare to other HIGH-end HD digital cameras, like the HPX500, or even the REDone?

I was looking at some of the images captured in low light with my HVX set to 2fps with the frame rate hack and a synchro scan shutter of 350.0d... and WOW, I wish the camera looked like that at 30fps with a normal 1/60 or 180.0d shutter.

Are there any HD cameras available that can do this kind of low light? How close does the HPX500 come? What about REDone? If not, how long until we see something like this?

Red One has some great low light performance, but by performance, I simply mean that you can get an image.

In my opinion, I think a lot of people are sort of abusing the Reds low light abilities. I've seen 4K tif screen grabs shot with very inadequate light, and I have to say, it can be noisy. Especially the blue channel (true to any digital camera). You do however have the benefit of 4K capture, so at 2K its not that bad. You can really go far under because of the sensors noise floor being so low, and the RAW work flow also helps. I think you'll have a hard time finding a camera that shoots to a compressed format that can compete with the Red's low light performance.

It's hard fighting physics, and even harder when you have deal with these wild card DSPs!

Red at 24fps has a native ISO of about 160; you can push it up quite high depending on your tolerance level for noise. I think many people find it quite acceptable when rated at 500 or even 640.

The HVX at 2fps/350d is exhibiting an ISO of about 7600. So no, no HD camcorder is going to have anywhere near the sensitivity (at 24fps or 30fps) that a 2fps HVX does. It's just not possible. You're talking about increasing the sensitivity of modern HD camcorders by anywhere from 3 to 5 stops. Don't expect that to happen any time soon.

FWIW, an HPX500 at 2fps/350d would have a sensitivity of around 25,000. That's some serious see-in-the-dark sensitivity, but the 2fps frame rate limits the usefulness as you've found.
