"The Regret" HVX/M2/Zeiss Lenses

I'm curious as to how you dealt with the upside down image from the M2? A pic would help if you took one during production. thanks

For myself, I use the new Nebtek Neb70HD monitor with the flip image feature, perfect.

Shadow,

Very cool to hear Nebtek is working well for you. I've just been flipping Nathan's Sony monitor. Nathan's been suffering through it with just the camera somehow. He's getting pretty good at doing backwards/upside down framing/moves at this point. And it keeps me away from the camera because I'm almost instantly frustrated by it. Micromanaging director deterrent?

Michael

Micheal, it is a very nice feature and the monitor is really good, mean perfect. The peaking for video assist are another very usefull feature. ; )

I'm on a shoot in Ohio right now and was just playing with the HPX3000. It has a sweet rev scan feature that flips the image. They should release a firmware update for the HVX that does the same thing.

Also - as a sidenote - the Redrock M2 is mentioned in the November issue of American Cinematographer.

Michael + Nathan,

You guys rock. Everything has been said. Keep up the good work and collaboration.

Cheers

Well, if I'd read the credits I would have seen Middlebury, Vermont.

Michael, is the king of finding locations - and hidden angles. A lot of the stuff we've shot for the past couple of films has been inside or next door modern things that would give it away. A lot of tricky framing is done to keep modern technology and items out of the way. Michael spends a lot of time finding these hidden gems.

Well, thank you Mr. Beaman. Trying to find some more at this very moment.

The church is in Middlebury, Vermont. The factory (Trow and Holden Tools) is in Barre, Vermont.

Michael

Thanks! I'm writing an article right now on high quality quicktime compression for web delivery - so unfortunately I cant burst the bubble before it hits print. I'll be sure to let you know when its out. Should be a week or two.

Any progress on this? I am really interested in seeing what you have to say (or write... or whatever).

Thanks,
-Brad

a little behind on that actually - due to a last minute away job. I'm assuming I can't post the article here, as once I am paid I no longer own it.

I'll probably write something else up for here though.

That would be great. Or, find out where it will be published and I can go check it out there.

Thanks,
Brad

Double Ditto. And by the way, your work is excellent!!! I can't wait to read about how you compressed the HD.

incredible work.

so if i read this right, you shot this without a monitor? how in the world do you pull focus that sharp using the stock lcd/evf? or did you pull by numbers and marks?
