Skater Dolly Knockoff with HVX

judging from the footage in the ebay ad, that looks like a pretty damn good deal if it can hold up to normal ware and tear.

Nice pice, but why dont you DIY for less than 500$?

BTW - the seller must be a little alcoholic! ;-)

Haha, yeah, looks like the seller is an alcoholic. It looks like it will stand up to some abuse, Billet Aluminum. I contacted the seller last night and he said it wasn't a DIY, it was precisioned machined by a CNC designer after the real skater dollly with accurate measurements. I'll watch it and see.

you and (im guessing) another guy posted this same question both here and on lafcpug.

what youve done is totally blown your chance at getting this thing for a price worth the risk of it possibly being junk by advertising it for the seller DIRECTLY to its target market. it went from 100 to 500 overnight.

Sometimes the obvious just has to be pointed out .

or they are the person selling it and are driving the price up.....

Just flagging a concern here with that unit... The idea for the skater dolly is to be as low to the ground as possible. The huge head on that unit is defeating that right from the start. I know I bought a DIY from someone here on this board. It was a different design and had a lower head than this one. Believe me you want a lower head. Do a search in the DIY forum here and you should be able to find it.

yeah, but conversely - a slightly higher plate might buy you a greater range of tilt...?
not sure how often that would come in handy for a skater dolly though???

Looks Sweet

Looks Sweet

I'd love to get my hands on the actual skater dolly and give it a run, then I probably wouldn't even be interested in these knockoffs. I'm just looking for a cheap practical solution.

There is a new video posted on the listing, I think the rocker is awesome, it still looks super low to me and it tilts 50 degrees up or down. It also looks like it might come off with an allen wrench.

The acrylic dolly looks sweet, I might give that baby a try this weekend.

i love how everybody thinks there is always some kind of ebay conspiracy going on. Did you ever stop and think that somebody just wants to buy it?

Anyways $500 bucks is out of my range by far, especially since the holidays are coming.

The main idea for the skater dolly is NOT to be as low to the ground as possible. Look @ the setups @ P+S Technics! The most important thing is to hold an object stable in the middle when you drive around. P+S has also different head adapter with different sizes, dependent on what you need for the shot that you want.

I have one for sale on ebay too. I won't post the link here but you should be able to find it by searching for the "right" words. About a day left...
