Letus Extreme rig photos

Can one of the Extreme owners post some pics of their setups? This adapter sounds like a steal for the money, but I'm trying to figure out the cost of the support stuff. I'd like some detail shots of where the camera and lenses attach and support rod positions. Thanks! Also, if I were to order a Nikon version is there a way to use B-4 mount lenses with an adapter or am I stuck with Nikon only?

Here are some pix for you:

Suhhhweeeet.

How much does your rig weigh, Ryan?

And omg lol You actually got the mattebox on without a second set of rails!!!

Too much - LOL. Actually I like the weight, as it makes the whole rig feel more solid and less handicam-ish.

Yes you can get the matte box on with out a second set of rails- however, if you want to have some flexibility with where your ND grad falls, then the second set of rails will do the trick. :)

Ryan, I think your setup gives me new ideas. I had everything set up on just one set of rods and used the base plate of my second rod system to elevate the camera. Your set-up gives me ideas. I'll try it to see how it holds.

Nice work.

I only have some issues with the Indifocus not denting properly. Maybe you can help with how to use all the extra gears IndiFocus give. I am a newbie so I'm learning as I go.

I'm currently using the Redrock Follow Focus- so I'm not familiar with what you are refering to- can you try explaining it another way?

Ryan - thanks for posting.

In your opinion - Do you think 18" rails will fit the HVX, a Follow-Focus, the LEX of course, and a Matte Box?

I won't have all my bits until tomorrow but I think it would be a relevant question for those putting their rigs together.

Thanks!

EDIT: Just read the answer in another post and it appears that 18" rails will work 99% of the time.

Look 1st, what are you using to support that monitor?

Disjecta,

That's Ryan Walter's rig - looks like a standard Noga arm with a hotshoe adapter - I'd be leery about hanging a Marshall off the hotshoe - I'm using a Manfrotto Magic Arm with a quickrelease on one end for the monitor and a Super Clamp on the other - it's a long beast but very customizable - moreso geared to work with monitors that need to be flipped - I'm considering something a bit more lightweight now that the monitor doesn't need to be hung upside down.

Good eye- yes it is the Noga arm- except it is not in the hotshoe- it is screwed into the back 1/4" thread in the HVX arm.

Does the Noga arm work? Kind of- as long as you put the weight of the monitor so that it opposes the way the arm is bending- which limits the positions the arm can be in. It is not a great solution by any means- something more robust would be great.

I haven't heard of the magic arm- do you have a link to it?

18" rails will most definitely work. FWIW, I have them on my setup. The only reason you'd need longer ones is if you wanted to hook some sort of battery pack to the back . 24" is super overkill - in fact, on Ryan's rig it has no practical application whatsoever - they stick out to the back of the camera - empty of equipment. And needlessly adding weight to the rig just makes life harder for eventual use on a steadicam, jib, or dolly.

Also, I use ND grads no problem with a cavision matte box on a single level rail system. Ryan is very happy with his setup, and kudos to him, but you do not need a double level rail system for something like the EX. It's nice to load these cams up for wow factor but at some point reality has to prevail.
