Best movie of 2007 so far.....

Studios usually save the best (or supposedly best) films for the end of the year so they're fresh in Academy voters' minds, so we may well have not yet seen it yet...

Precisely. Maybe we got the blockbusters and the bigger budget stuff in the summer, but with only a couple of months left in the year, we could see quite a rush of films...

There Will Be Blood
No Country For Old Men
American Gangster
Lions For Lambs

...any one of these films could end up being very good.

I will be absolutely shocked if Lions for Lambs is any good. Every trailer and ad I've seen for it makes me feel bad for the incredible collection of talent they seem to be pooling into a garbage film. And I say this as a liberal.

Everyone needs to do themselves a favor and see "The King of Kong: A Fistful of Quarters" It's my favorite Documentary of all time.

But don't think of it as a documentary, because it plays out like a real Hollywood movie, the characters in it are hard to believe they are real, but they are.

May I suggest a YouTube viewing of the trailer etc.

p.s. Billy Mitchell is a b*stard.

damn there are some mixed opinions here. i loved transformers and i'm not ashamed to say it. but that's because i grew up with it and loved it as a kid and my transformers were my absolute favorite toys. i guess you have to be in the right age group.
i saw lars and the real girl last night. i liked it except for the fact that the projectionist screwed up and the boom was in every shot (knowledge of this thanks to barry green)
other than that, knocked up and superbad were great. i'm not one to enjoy staring at dick after dick but those drawings were hilarious. 300 was also alot of fun to watch.
i really wanna see there will be blood, too.

"Tropa de Elite" - excellent Brazilian movie - although it's not easy to watch and a bit too extreme right wing.
I have very high hopes for "There Will Be Blood and" and "No Country For Old Men"

For me, "Best Movie" and "Movie I enjoyed the most" are two very different things. The movie I enjoyed the most was Transformers, by far. I've watched it 5 times since I bought it last week (I'm not crazy, I swear). The best movie I've seen this year is yet to be determined.

Oh, and I hated 300.
