How to achieve a deinterlaced look on 60i footage without losing half your fields?

Hi, I just needed some quck feedback regarding deinterlacing in Premiere Pro 2. I want to achieve the progressive deinterlaced look on standard 60i video without actually having to throw away half my resolution or fields.

Theirs several different options, like interlacing consecutive frames, flicker removal, reverse field dominance, or the field interpolate video filter.

Is their a way to achieve the deinterlaced look without actually having to lose half your fields, please let me know

Thanks allot in advance.

Here's an example of something I've tried that doesn't look too bad:

1. Copy your clip(s) to a second video track, synchronized over the first.

2. On one track, deinterlace the clip(s) to the "odd" fields.

3. On the second track, deinterlace the clip(s) to the "even" fields.

4. Finally, set the transparency of the top track to somewhere around 50%. (You can play with this a bit to see what balance you prefer.)

You'll be effectively creating a pseudo-progressive scan image that uses both fields.

Not a bad idea, although how would I go about selecting which field to dienterlace, I cant find an option that lets me choose if I want to deinterlace the odd or even fields, just a generic deinterlace.

Please let me know.

You might try DVFilm Maker which preserves the full vertical detail
in areas of the screen where there is no movement. See

Sorry about that. Working from memory, I didn't describe the procedure clearly.

Right-click the clips to display the "Field Options" dialog. For both clips you will select "Always Deinterlace." Then, at the top of the dialog is a checkbox called "Reverse Field Dominance." Choose this for only one of the two clips. That will change which field gets deinterlaced for that clip.
