*Stale Blood* New horror 9 minute short!

If anyone has any good punch/fight type sfx could you pm them or post here please? Still finishing my spyfest entry...

Spyfest was a while ago. One of the actors (a mate) moved towns and still waiting to redo his V.O. stuff, I think I'll just finish it as is and post in the next week or so.

I can't watch it without the screen turning green and going all to hell

Not just you Como, but some other videos online do the same thing; I am missing some codec but don't know which one

Any chance you can render this out to another type ?

JR try VLC media player - it usually plays everything and doesn't seem to tax the computers' resources.

I liked the rack focus from the knife to the wine glass.

Yeah, I was gunna say that too. Also, I thought the best shots were the ones taken from the "flashback" scene outside. The lighting of course is always better outside, but those specific shots were simply awesome. Nice job, the main character did a good job acting!
Just one thing I'd suggest though: maybe before having the main character kill the guy in mask, let there be a struggle in which the masked man attempts to kill the main character (thus, justifying the main guy's drive to chop him in the end). It just kinda seemed like the masked guy was kind of weak since he didn't put up much of a fight. Hope that made sense!
Nice job!

Como, you are improving for sure. I won't get into a critique of your short here and all beyond that. And, also to say that there is no reason you couldn't have cut that own to 5 minutes. I know it's often hard to cut your own work or to think you can't cut that much fat out, but in this instance.... looking at it from an outsiders perspective, you definitely could have.

It was well shot all in all, and you made some strong choices and went for them, so that's good. But, there wasn't really a "story" per se... not that it's a bad thing... but the point is the audience wouldnt' be missing out on some integral plot development had you cut it down. It doesn't work any more or less longer or shorter. In this case, I think less is more. It is a guy who has been kidnapped and a guy who plans on torturing him. Beyond that, what's to get?

Does that make sense? It's more of a mood piece and that's fine. Could have worked just as well in 5 minutes... Especially by picking up the pace in the cuts. It would have helped to add to the anxiety of the situation and at the same time shaved a minute or more just by doing that... and that's not even getting to cutting out shots yet.

Not being negative, so don't take it that way... I'm just giving my observations. You are improving with your camera work and your editing.

Later,
Jason

Hey Jason thanks for the input. I think i might shave it down for next monday, and i can post it up. I know it didnt really have a "story". It's probably because im a director, filmer, editor, and not a writer lol you know? If i could get a nice story down, i think it would look a lot better, only if i had a decent story.

I have a few story ideas but no real script. I can run a few by you if you want... and you can fill in the blanks.

Just PM me.

And let me know how many actors you can get. 2 would be fine...

Cheers,

Mike
