Test Footage on a Commerical Shoot coming up.

Doing a commerical soon. The place has bad lighting, and to top it off it is all florescence.
Wondering what you think of the shot. I gave a generous size to view. Let me know what you think.

Ohh no TKD... lol. P I didn't know you were into that.. My kungfu sensibilities are alarmed.. JK.

Looks nice, what's this project for?

If concerned about the lighting, perhaps a wider shot may reveal flicker. Flicker may also become more apparent if you were to increase the shutter speed for various action moves or a slomo. As for the lights, you could always warm it up in post. IMO, martial arts training centres are indicative of the white light look, and the clip looks good to me. Increasing the shutter speed may reduce the motion blur and the chucks may become more distinguishable on the close up. Depends what you want. Footage looks very clean. No noise in the image.

Hey guys, Thanks for the comments. I used to do TKD back when I was 13. LOL - I am just working on ascetics and framing v. available light. The building I am shooting in is facing north, and they dont want to do light kits. (meaning they dont want to pay) LOL

The fastest shutter speed I could do was I beleve 1/250th - I how cool would be 1/2000th sweeeeeet! LOL

It is a simple commercial, and they are thinking how they want to do it. I.E., Presenter style (I thought it would be funny to do like Napoleon Dynamite.. Rex's Do Jo or whatever, of course I did not say it out loud to the client, but chuckled in my head) or a Video montage with V.O and text over video.

Here is another clip - First as fast on the shutter as I could go, no CC and then then with a WARM tone CC.

P... don't let them fool ya if they say they don't have any money. The ATA is a money making machine so they should have some pretty darn good cashflow as they usually work with lots of kids and have big contracts in nice well light strip mall outlets. I should take some footage of my kungfu school and it's dingy lighting, well warn equipment, and monster ving tsun practioners with no kids at all.

congrats and shooting martial arts stuff is usually pretty fun...

The first big project I did was for my Tae-Kwon-Do school, an educational set of discs basically, the entire curriculum from white through sixth degree black belt on disc. They were sold at the school to raise money for my mom's breast cancer fund and the school's black belt fund.

My master made really good money, for sure, the kids are the main source of income. There are very few adults who seem to take training seriously, which is one reason it's important to me. Most people end up quitting when they're young. My master is really good with kids, which is why he makes good money, but even for him, he said only 25% of kids (at most) continue until they reach black belt. Then he said of the people in general who reach 1st Dan, only about 25% of those at most achieve 2nd Dan. In the entire world there are only 57,000 4th degree black belts, and only 8,000 of them are outside of Korea. So achieving that level would be pretty awesome, because almost all of those people run their own studios so it puts you in pretty elite company.

The footage I shot was really amateur for my TKD place, I mean I was using the XL-1s and practical lighting only. It wasn't like I was getting paid or had the resources, really. I wish I could go back now, for some pay at least, and redo it all completely professionally. It'd be fun.

yea, I thnk Post #7. I put up another clip to get some feedback. I describe what feedback I am Looking for as well.

thank for looking.

P.. looks nice and clean, but man that's a whack technique. why she wouldn't grab the arm or do something simultaneously or whatever just wasted multiple movments... but again not about TKD vs. Kungfu but of course i'm biased. It is kind of like hey throw it slow.. nah.. slower and then I'll do This.. routines, yikes!

LOL - The class was a fun enviroment. They were doing like an adlib, doing differnt choices. I have been out of that loop for a long time, but they were all having fun.

Did you think that was too warm on the CC. But man that black poped

Nah.. it looked nice. I'm cutting my demo now and going to run it through color so that should be interesting. Also finally getting my site up.. just a simple something but a start and better than nothing. cheers
