Wide angle lens with no distortion?

I keep seeing shots that look like they're using wide angle adapters, and there's no barrel distortion! How do they do that? The edges of doorways, houses, walls, etc- all vertical lines on the edges of the frame are perfectly straight! Yet when they pan and tilt, the "bulging" wide angle effect is still present.

Here's an example:

Watch "A New Season Begins on This Old House"

Is this an effect like Optics Compensation or just a really high quality lens?
Thanks!

You would need a rectilinear wide angle lens. I'm not aware of a rectilinear WA adapter that can be put on the HVX, but if you use a 35mm DOF adapter, you have access to the many high-quality lenses from/for Canon, Nikon and others.

"This Old House" is not a very big budget production. My guess would be that they are using a top of the line zoom lens on a digi-beta professional cam. Also the shots really don't look very wide to me. A lot of the shots are on an upward or downward angle, you may be seeing the effects of the camera being nose up or down.
