1/2'' Jvc Gy-dv500 For Sale

I'll selling a JVC GY-DV500 camcorder with slightly more than 100 hours on it (I'll check the hour meters but the head mechanism was serviced by JVC about 2 years ago).

The camera has seen its used but is still capable of many hours of service. I shot a live show with it about three months ago and it worked just fine. Thanks to its 1/2'' CCD imager this camera has phenomenal low light performance, perfect for filming plays and shows were lighting conditions aren't optimal.

There's the basic scuff marks and paint peel on the handle and a few other areas but everything is fully functional.

This is what I'm selling:

DV500 body
Stock 14x Fujinon Lense
2 NP-46 Batteries (about 1.5 hours per battery)
Battery Charger
Power cable
Viewfinder
Manual
Tripod Plate
Sorry, no original box

I accept Paypal or cash. I'm willing to do local pick up in the Berkeley/SF area as well. Asking price is $900 + shipping OBO.

NOTE: I'll update this post with pictures in a day or two. Thanks for looking!

Another bump. I forgot to list the tripod plate for the camera so I've updated that. And price is now lowered to $1300.

I've had a few inquiries about whether this camera shoots 16:9. I'm afraid that it does NOT; the CCD is 4:3 and there's no squeeze mode. However I used it as a regular B-cam with the XH-A1, and I've decided to post up a few stills so you can see how the DV500 looks when conformed to 16:9.

This one is from the DV500, scale up in a 16:9 timeline.

This is from the XH-A1, which of course is a native 16:9 camera

To my eyes, these two images are comparable in softness, with the A1 having a slight edge. I wish I have more close up from the A1 but it's kept mainly as a wide shot. When I delivered the DVD to my client, they can't tell one from the other.

In the second set of pics you can clearly see the superior low light sensitivity that the DV500 has over the A1. I was at 3db gain at that point for the A1 and the 500 was at 0db. This camera can handles low light like nothing I've ever used before.

wow man, those shots really do not do the XH A1 justice.

nice price though boys.

Yea, it really hurts to see your beloved camera performing below par simply because the lighting sucks. You should see some stuff from the shows when they did lit the stage well. It's a world of difference.
