Right Brain vs Left Brain - an interesting test

The whole concept of hemispherical dominance has always fascinated me - especially since I don't have one. It's really hard to explain to people but this test is surprisingly simple and very illustrative.

All you have to do is look at the animation and decide: Does the girl turn clockwise or counter-clockwise.

Try it. You might learn something about yourself ;o)

Do you see her as turning clockwise or counter-clockwise? I only see her as clockwise and can't even see how she could be considered counter-clockwise

She's turning clockwise and I can't even see how it would look like she was turning in any other direction.

I think the animation is switching. My wife and I were watching it together (silently) and then it jumped from counter back to clock for both of us

whoaaaaa, ok i convince myself that you were right and that the animation just switch. but now I've trained myself to switch back and forth at will. it's not the animation.

I can switch it by looking at the words and only looking at the picture off to the side in my vision. weeeeiiiiird

For like the first second when I was adjusting it looked like maybe it could be counter as I was trying to focus on it... but ever since it has been clockwise, and I can't make myself see it other, no matter how hard I try. It's Clockwise.

I think the main factor is in one's spatial skills. If you see it in 3 dimensions you can't see it any other way than clockwise. If you for some reason can only see it as a flat piece of paper, then maybe it comes across as counter-clockwise... At least that's my guess anyways...

The only way it could be counter-clockwise though is if you looked at it from the feet up (the soles of her feet facing you and her head being the furthest from you), which isn't easy to visualize... which according to the info on the left, is not a trait of someone who would see it as spinning counter-clockwise

ive got it so i can switch it literally every half turn, so she never turns away. I wonder who came up with this test, what does it prove? now im really curious.

Yeah, it is easy to perceive her going either way if you look at the legs during te crossover. If you watch her bust, it seems to go one way, but you can still make it switch.

Focusing on the ponytail works well at keeping her going in one direction.

I just got it to switch. Now I am having difficulty getting it back. Freaky. Does this mean I am screwed up? :)

Now I can. If you focus on a word then it will switch. Pretty easy to do it now.

I think it's impossible for her to be going counter-clockwise. Look at her reflection on the ground...when her foot goes right to left, her reflections shows that foot is closer to the 'camera' and proves that it can ONLY be going clockwise.

Every 24th frame, there is a picture of a coke bottle. Now I am thirsty.... :)

Seriouisly, I can get it to switch by looking at her foot on the floor and blinking.

Crazy.
I thought you were all insane.
I watching this thing for minutes and could ONLY see it going clockwise.
I couldn't fathom how any of you saw it moving counter clockwise, then finally got it to switch. Very weird.
Not sure what this proves, but it's pretty cool.
