It's been a crazy year for us and now with post production wrapping up, I just wanted to post a link to a teaser for our 2nd Feature Film PLACEBO:

www.placebomovie.com

It is one of the first feature films shot on the HD Andromeda System (ReelStream).

We are pretty excited about it. Hope you enjoy!
Thanks for reading.

I know you probably want a sample of honest opinions, so here goes. The impression that the teaser makes on me isn't much because the concept itself seems ridiculous and not believable. Everybody knows the chemical properties and effects of alcohol in foods, medicines, etc. It isn't a subject with any wiggle room for theories because it is common knowledge. It doesn't arouse any curiousity for me because its like telling me what if 2 + 2 did not equal 4. I know it equals 4.

It looks like you put alot of hard work into the execution of your idea, so I don't want to be all negative. But in the end, I know I would want an unfiltered opinion.

I did like the look of it. How it was produced? I dont no about the concept of it, but from what i saw i loved the cinematography. What camera did you use, also what format and frame rate?

Cheers,
Nathaniel

Pretty cool... I'd love to see some production stills, setups with your camera and computer rig since you're running andromedia. I've been pretty tempted to go andro, but have always hated the idea of the computer

It looks great, but I have to agree with Aloy. It's a difficult concept to grasp, and from the trailer it seems like there's a whole conspiracy built around this theory. I suppose it depends on the person.

Looking forward to the film anyways.

Loved the cinematography, enjoyed the trailer and would reserve any further opinions regarding the plot until I get a chance to see the film, I like to have an open mind ;).

WHAT CAMERA did you use, love the first travelling shot over him in the tall dry grass... Great DOF I assume you are using a 35 mm adapter if so which?

When is the film due for release?

Congrats!!

Thank you all for your comments.

We shot on a DVX 100B modified with the Andromeda System (HD) from ReelStream, and a red Rock Micro 35mm adaptor. I'm not sure if I would use the system again, but given the budget and the results...I am very happy with the final product.

The trailer was shot great, i loved it very professional and it had a good vibe to it.

I have to agree the story seems a little off to me but i will wait to see the finish product before i pass judgment on the story... it is fair to do that just off of a trailer.

I look forward to seeing the finished product and Good Luck with your release!

damn

it looks good, thats for sure.
when they are all drinking at the end, are they drinking ot make a experiment to proove that its not toxic?

First off, I want to say that based on the trailer the cinematography looks top notch. Really nice work.

However, what makes or break any film is the story. And there, I have to side with Aloy. The premise does not pique curiosity because it is, to put it bluntly, absurd. Anecdotally and scientifically, alcohol is inarguably a mind-altering chemical. The audience won't be drawn in because they know the outcome (alcohol IS a drug). If in the movie it is found to NOT be a drug, the audience will take it as an insult to their intelligence. In other words, the story cannot set out to legitimately question whether alcohol is a drug.

I think the story could work if you portrayed the protagonist as an imbalanced conspiracy theorist, who privately sets out to prove that alcohol is a placebo. In this case, the movie would center on the main character's obsessive nature, and his placebo mission would just serve as a means of examining his delusion mind. Kind of like how a Beautiful Mind isn't about a solving conspiracy, it's about overcoming mania.

Another approach would be to make it a satire on expose journalism and conspiracy theorism.

I know it's too late to change the story, but you deserve an honest opinion, and by no means is mine the only opinion. I'm not sure how you went about writing the script for this feature, but in the future I would highly recommend pitching the story to a few friends to get their honest opinion. It's way easier to change the story BEFORE you've written the script, so this should be the first step in screen writing.

What about imagination? I suppose it is easier to buy the story line of "The Matrix" then? That we are all asleep and some great hoax has been performed on us even though the "physical evidence" seems to pove otherwise? That in fact 2 + 2 does not equal 4.

Who know where this guy's story goes story goes. Maybe it goes sci-fi at some point. I don't now.
I would have to see the whole thing before I could make a judgement such as "dumb"

Nice pictures though.

I tried to prove the same point as your main character several days ago - unfortuately I had a two day hangover and I'll never drink again.
Has anybody seen my beer?
I'm thirsty.
It's a good topic and very universal. It's funny. Of course it's "unrealistic" but you guys didn't produce a fim about scientific facts, right?
It's a comedy. Target audience is the one from Beerfest.
Cheers.

Technically it looked really good and i was into the feeling of the trailer.

RJC already said it for me but I wanted to reiterate it, 2+2 does not have to equal 4.

concept hard to grasp yes, but i would love to watch the full movie if it has the same feel to it :)

Shots looked good. Storyline seems kinda weak since I didn't get any sense of the conflict from the trailer but I'm thinking that's just the trailer - if there's a hook in there it kinda missed me - but giving benefit of the doubt. When/how/where released? How long? When can we see more??

Best wishes
