New Film: Keygen!

CREATIVE Critisicm??

CREATIVE Critisicm??

1. if you wont even try to get performances out of amateur actors, what makes you think you'll have the opportunity to work with professional actors?

2. don't steal copyrighted, famous music. it's lame, no excuses. trust me every freshman in film school can drop the matrix soundtrack onto their video and get the same results as you.

3. your video is painfully cliché.

Okaaaay? And what have YOU done?

Okaaaay? And what have YOU done?

I'm only 21 but I'm making a feature documentary funded by Harvard University and directing the behind-the-scenes featurette of a Val Kilmer movie...

If I were you I would accept people's criticism instead of argue with them; many of the users here are speaking with experience and insight.

There's no point in asking for member's past and current accomplishments as a means of checking their 'cred'. Even if they have no notable accomplishments to speak of, they can still advise - at least theoratically. Doing is different, but theoratical advice is still advice nonetheless

Look,

That's cool. I've performed with grammy award winning artists, on stage, while they were there, and I've done it all over the world, but that doesn't make me a god of audio, or a stage guru.... If you are as smart as you seem to be, I should not have to explain that criticism to you any further. You have experience, but you're still a kid, and he is not you, so give criticism in a way that shows your experience and insight and not in a way that would cause people to trash it. You're talented, but I think you know it.

Good luck on your projects, I'm moving on

I haven't argued with ANYONE in this thread. Not even you. But what you said wasn't creative, it was just rude and you have nothing to show for yourself. From what I understand, you either don't have a camera or just got one. So um....

HE HAD NO ADVICE! Did you not see his comment?

You're resorting to ungrounded personal insults because you received negative feedback on your video. I said using the copyrighted Matrix Soundtrack is a bad idea. That doesn't count as advice?

I watch dozens of student films every month and too many of them suffer from the same amateur mistakes as yours. But there's also a ton of them that have a lot more to offer than this one. I was just letting you know you're going to have to try a lot harder if you want to produce something special, because this one is utterly lackluster. If you can't handle criticism, you should just give up now because it's a reality that even the best filmmakers have to put up with. I'm not trying to make you feel bad, I'm just trying to give it to you real.

I LOVE the negative feedback. For over two pages I've recieved negative yet CREATIVE comments and have even read them off to friends of mines like 'look what these people think of my work, do you agree'? I take DVXuser advice to heart.

No, NOTHING you said in your comment counts as 'advice' to me. You're too young and cocky and unexperienced to school me in any aspect.

Never said I couldn't handle criticism. Everything was fine untill you strolled along on that invisible high horse of yours. You don't give it 'real', you give it like an asshole and it'd be best you didn't respond towards me anymore. At least not in my threads.

You keep using the word creative but there's nothing creative about you. You steal copyrighted music and tape your friends running around with toy guns. Anyone with a camcorder and iMovie can do that. You're the one on a high horse for taking yourself so seriously. I'll never waste another 5 minutes watching one of your videos so don't worry, you wont hear from me again.

Thank you "Jesus". I hope you get get around to buying your first camera sometime soon and produce your first piece of work!

I dunno, it seems like you're improving. When I started out my stuff was lame, 'cause I was playing around with effects and the software and imitating other movies. After a while you get a handle on technique and that's when you can really start doing some good work.

Any of your work with effects in it that I can see?

I liked it! I found that the girl who played the main character had a very strong face and a strong appearance (if that makes any sense). It was just that her acting when speaking was kinda poor. But I really enjoyed it though; it was entertaining.

This is very good. I can only encourage you to continue making films like this...they will only get better!

Some of this has been covered but my thoughts:

-The music is superb.
-The sound of the body hits during the fist fight need to be more realistic.
-The pace of the film, especially in the beginning, is very slow. This can be fixed with tighter editing. Even the opening credits had too much space between each credit. It is especially slow when the guys are deciding to shoot, etc. Tighten up all those edits.
-The "bad amateur acting" is troubling during the two girl's dialogue. Can you shorten this or get off of their faces more? The lead actress' accent is a problem. Redub the dialogue?
- I like the off-center framing. Their screen direction worked, so it is interesting.
-Tommie, the closing credits are indulgent. Combine Producer/Director and get rid of casting and location because that is what a director does as part of the job. Less is more with credits.

Keep up the good work!

dude.. One thing I gotta say that hasn't been said. Never underestimate your actors. You're only failing yourself when you don't think it's necessary to direct them the way you want to. It's your movie, do everything you can to make it the best possible.
