Brevis35 Short with new GG

the shots, lighting, and composition are very nice, but i'd say the widescreen cropping is a little too close for comfort, everyone's missing the top and sometimes bottom of their heads. are you guys sure you want it this wide?

Nice even lighting, but agree with the center frame. With all those center-framed shots you lose a sense of eyeline and also environment. Agree with the cutting of the heads in closeups. Superwide isn't the best choice for closeups, I want to see more of their heads.

I like the color in these shots.

And fullsize screens please, quit teasing us!

The day 2 shots of the girl in the middle looking to the side is actually a quick dolly shot and she moves out of frame. Yeah, its a little awkward for a screen shot but I posted it anyway.
The last shot of day 2 and the really close up of the girl smiling were also a dolly shots.

Jason, Steve it's likely not any brighter, save for the fact that CF1Le will provide the widest possible usable frame, often exceeding the 36mm standard SLR frame. This means less camera zoom in across the conceivable lens choices out there which will slightly improve light efficiency. The bokeh should look a bit "tighter" but not significantly different otherwise.

Not any darker either? :) In other words if nothing gets "worse" going to 1Le from 1L, then it seems only appropriate that it act as a replacement to the 1L diffuser. If, on the other hand, there are still some things the 1L does better, then (my opinion) perhaps you should continue offering it and just add the 1Le to the ever growing number of diffusers you offer.

Later,
Jason

Hmmm. I zoomed in a lot. I will try to not zoom in so far next time and see what I get.

The wide at the desk looks that way but the rest I would say it would be hard to tell since the subject thats in focus isn't near the edge. The very last shot where she is in profile pointing to her eyes the edge is pretty sharp up near the shirt she has on her head. I shoot with a shutter of 24 so I tend to get more blur in my stills also. I will post some motion shots later.

So, Aram... Have you had a chance to do any kind of direct comparisons between the CF1L and the 1Le? If so, any observations?

Thanks,
Jason

Not yet. I just threw the new one on and hoped for the best. I did notice that there is no vignetting right away even when stopping down the aperture on the nikon. I can't wait to use it again next month on 2 projects after I get used to it.

Teaser clip looks very nice. That looks like a great story and it appears you have some very talented kids on this production.

(i know its just a teaser but the music doesnt fit- WAY too dramatic- of course this is just my measly $0.02 :D )

Thanks for posting

Hey beat Takeshi, i always wondered this. How do you scout, and talk to people that you need in films, who "Arent" beautiful, and who "are" over weight. Like the girl in this film. SHe was perfect, how do approach her, without hurting her feelings?
