Some frame grabs from my upcoming short film ILLEGAL - HVX + M2

Yes, please inform us of the nitty gritty details for the screening as soon as they become available. (ie. time, any particular screening room number at Jargon?, etc.)

what did you use for the hand held shots? shoulder mount? glide cam? they look great!!!
i love the neo-noir-esk colouring.

The hand-held rig believe it or not was my shoulder! lol.

Actually I just held onto the end of the rods and sat the Red Rock plate on my shoulder.

what's the redrock plate? do you mean that bit were you connect the tripod?

what where you using to view the footage while handheld?
a mirror system, an external monitor, the camera's LCD?

what were you using to flip the image for framing?

do you think that with a dvx you could get pretty much the exact same footage just less resolution... in terms of the look?

thanks for replying so quickly

The Red Rock's rod plate is what I meant.

I was using a Marshall 7" flipped for framing.

As far as the look matching up on both, I'd say that with the HD to SD downcinvert, viewing on a DVD you will most likely have the same look. However, if you're going to a film-out or HDcam as your final output then, no way will a DVX deliver the same quality.

Waht i wouldnt give for your grip package.... Im so goddman jealous. lol

Your work looks really good you guys. Also the acting is nice. kudos to the kids on that one.

I'd love to hear a little more about your post-production process. How long did you spend on the editing? The sound design, music? I'm almost done shooting my short and am having anxiety attacks about the amount of post work ahead.

Although this may not be the area to discuss this.

Well, I hope I don't steal Andrew's thunder, but ILLEGAL was officially accepted into the Tribeca film festival. Wow! Congrats Andrew, Kenneth, Alex, and everyone involved in such a great project!

Loved this footage.....i have a question if you dont mind answering, which Nikon did you use for the shot with the male actor holding the gun to the left of the camera?

Cant believe this was shot on a hvx, Superb!!!

Any info on the lens used? (nikon)

Also what was the outcome of the video?

Hi Guys

I won't pretend to speak for Andrew for all things, but I do know they used nikon lenses (primarily 50mm and 85mm and a wide angle if I'm not mistaken).

The film was also accepted into Tribeca film fest, which was great for the guys, and both Andrew and Kenneth Yeung (the DP) attended
