1080 24pa with pulldown removed not progressive

I have a bunch of footage that was shot in 1080 24pa and imported into FCP 6 with "remove advanced pulldown." It is 23.98, but is still labeled as being a file designated as 108060i compressor. It also doesn't gel with DVCPRO 1080 24p sequence and asks me to edit in a DVCPRO 1080 60i.

What are peoples thoughts? I thought 1080 24pa was actually 1080p.

It means that you have FCP set up incorrectly. The "compressor" is not relevant. It is 1080i60 until you remove the pulldown. Set your sequence settings for 1080i 24p.

This is normal- you probably have everything set up correctly. The "1080 60i" compression codec is used for both flavors of 1080 24p dvcprohd, so it's somewhat of a misnomer.

If you go to FCP's sequence settings menu, the compressor should be set to 1080 60i dvcprohd and your frame rate set to 23.98. You can put a clip in a timeline and step through it frame by frame if you want to make sure that the pulldown removal is working.

Did you use Cinema Tools or FCP to do the pulldown, because I have always had more success using Cinema Tools. If you're using FCP, you might want to give it a try.

I imported nearly all of the footage while I was using FCP 5 which was fine and dandy with a DVCPRO 1080 24p sequence, but in FCP 6, it warns me against using the DVCPRO 1080 24p sequence.

In FCP 6, the 1080 24p sequence is rated as using the 30p compressor while in FCP 5, it is rated as using the 60i compressor.

As for the method of import, I used FCP. The pulldown worked because it is all 23.98.

The stand alone images are great and look progressive without any interlaced tracing, but I want to make sure that when I print a master, that it is at the highest possible quality.
