Calabrating Mac Book Pro to Match HVX LCD

Hey guys,

I have a MBP which I now take with me to some shoot. I noticed that my picture on the LCD is lighter than on the capture screen oh FCP. So which to I calibrate and/or both and how?

thanks.

okay, So after over a month, and no replies, I figured out that no one knows. LOL - I went out to buy a Spyder 2 Pro and well I did not really see a difference. I mean I did in temp color, but on my MBP the image is still way darker than the HVX's LCD. So I dont know. When I switch the HVX to color bars, I notice on the L and Capture window that I dont see the last 3 bars inthe bottom right hand corner that are there in the HVX's LCD. Of course the other colors in the color bars are darker than the HVX's LCD. So I dont know.

If anyone has any info let me know. I would like my MBP to match what my HVX's LCD shows. Unless my HVX's LCD is not correct..??...

okay, so I did another pass with the Spyder 2 Pro and found out that it it has a NTSC setting, so I calibrated it for that. Dont get oyur hopes up if you are reading this. It did not do any better at all.

So the closest to the color on the HVX's LCD is the System Pref's> Display>Color Tab> Generic RGB. But the problem is it has a little to much blue, and maybe a little flat.

Ok, here's the deal as far as I can figure. It's impossible to calibrate the LCD on a powerbook or macbook or any other laptop, since you need to have color bars and their associated controls, chroma, phase, brightness and contrast. So the only way I've found to calibrate is to use the Matrox MXO. You can't calibrate the HVX lcd to the macbook lcd, or vice versa, since neither has sufficient controls to make a real calibration, and even if you could, you'd be calibrating to an unknown, rather than using NTSC color bars to calibrate to something that makes sense. Far better to do calibration on your editing system, and rely heavily on zebras rather than the LCD's for exposure.
