I did a search on using the dvx100a and the steadicam jr and I couldn't find a consensus on whether it's possible to use them together properly. Does anyone here use the dvx with the JR? Can you help me balance it?

thanks,

Paul

Hmm, I'm not sure if the JR will hold the DVX .. I know it's really close.

Do you have a manual for the JR? It should tell you the maximum camera weight - and then simply weigh your camera, and you'll know if it'll fly.

The maximum weight for the JR is 4lbs. The dvx100a is 3.7 without the battery. The manual was put out way before the dvx came out so there aren't recommended settings for it. I think it is possible to use it, but difficult to get it to balance properly.

whew, that's close. Use the smallest battery you have, and carry as little wieght as possible - taking the lens hood off would be a good idea.

What's the largest/most similar sized camera that the JR manual does have settings for?

do you recognize any of the cameras as larger cameras.

..look for something with the maximum number of weights and largest "arc" size .. in stop-blocks if I recall..
