hey everyone,

just a quick note - my first paid shoot with my new 200 was for The Montel Williams Show ! They called me sorta last minute to shoot an interview and b-roll, which turned out to be 2 interviews (2 set ups) and a shot list of about 30 separate shots and action sequences. So if you're a daytime tv viewer and you see the show about multiple birth families, the stuff I shot was for the family with quintuplets from Bremerton WA.

Yes that's right 5 toddlers .

i posted my company info on a few websites that list video production companies, and folks can search by zip code. I got 2 jobs that way,

they wanted tape recorded in 24p so i shot about 2 and 1/2 hours of kids being kids and overnighted the tapes the next day.

At least one place to do this...

At least one place to do this...

is productionhub. you can get a basic listing for free, but beyond that, you pay for an "enhanced listing" and "targeted leads".

x

Congrats...not a bad gig for your first paid shoot. I'm green w/envy...my 1st paid solo shoot was a private birthday party - not nearly as exciting as Montel.

Killer........that's good stuff

I think the Montel Williams show does that alot because they called me twice in probably the last year since I have my website on a couple of searchable sites as well. I didn't do either of them though because I didn't get the message until the end of the day (time difference).

Montel does this A LOT. I've been called a few times (also by Maury Povich)...I think they pulled me from the local film commission site. They're not gonna pay enough to make you rich, but I recall it was worth the time involved.

Yes, I'm registered there and some other sites as well. it's probaly worth a couple of calls a year depending on the market.

Yes, it was a little last minute....I didn't speak with the field producer until I was on the ferry boat at 7:00 in the morning But that's how things are these days, everyone is busy.

hahahahahaha.....i was thinking the same thing, hell we're all the way on the east coast. maybe it's a secret society.

Hey, i think there's lots of sites out there, Mandy is a good one, here's another one I found on Craig's List

Not sure about them but they even have a little shoot test...fun I say sign up and no matter where you are, let's hope people use video more and more and keep us all involved and working. Competition will only make you better at what you do, so it shouldn't matter how many videographers are in one area, do what makes you happy and keeps you learning. Cheers and thanks everyone for responding.
