Best way to adjust cam for warm look?

I would assume that color temp is what I'd want to play with to acheive the warm look I'm going for; any other suggestions as far as cam settings go? (I'm shooting in 24p)

You can also do a white balance using 1/4 or 1/8 ctb. Either put the piece of ctb over your white card or over the lens. I usually put the gel over the white card. It's just trial and error. See what works best for your liking.

That, or find a peice of paper that would do it. I no that if you purple balance it, you get a green tint, so im not sure what color you would need for an orangey/redish look. There's always the Three Way Color Corrector in your NLE :D

Yeah, white balancing off something blueish will give you a golden/yellow warm feel to it.

I would be careful with the white balance. Every time you balance, you change the gain in your red and blue channels (green, at least in the DVX 100, is locked off and always remains constant), sometimes these "creative" white balances actually add noise to your already noisy DV footage...

Listen to you, mister 4:4:4 Andromeda God...it is 4:4:4 right?

It sure is 4:4:4 :Drogar-Smoke(DBG):

I'm not being stuck up, LOL. White balance also affects the Andromeda capture too, and it can be just as negative. I'm actually researching this at the moment, so far I find that the blue channel exhibits a lot of noise when balanced for indoor light, and the red channel is noisy when balanced for outdoor light. This is the reason why Viper Filmstream is green.... its chips are locked off for minimal noise in all channels, and it also helps with dynamic range. You can balance in post, but its been found that using various magenta filters is better. I'm basically working on finding the optimum balance, then just never changing it and shooting threw filters. For the moment, I've been noise reducing only the worst two channels (red and blue) to various degrees, probably overkill as its already very clean footage anyways, but man, its like extra icing on the cake :grin:
