Cinevate Flip Module - They're Here!

The flip module will not have pre-order list as we'll have plenty of them in very short order. The module will work with pretty much anything projecting a 35mm image, as long as it has 72mm threads, or can be adapted to 72mm.

Most of the questions that have been asked in this thread can be answered by following the link Dennis provided in his initial post :)

marketmd likes to complain about how expensive everything is I've noticed... and apparently how big it is too :) No offense intended market... just an observation of the majority of your posts on this board.

Anyways... sounds like the 300'ish price point is pretty well locked. That's great news, Dennis. I'm looking forward to this personally. The 35 adapter market is really shaking up lately. Looks like some good steps forward that will benefit the end user.

Thanks,
Jason

300 is nothing.... a good CA free prism is pretty expensive if i dont say so myself....

Anyone who thinks he can do it better or cheaper can always whittle their own flip adapter...

LoL! That IS funny, Jason. And yes it's true I am a cheapskate. My comment on the prototype was a joke of course, but I would like to see footage already, especially since it has been demoed at a public event.

How's it going Dennis!!! Nice to see that my spiderbrace setup got some attention!!! Great picture too!

Well, our retail flip version didn't get finished in time for the Canon Pro Expo, but we did make it down with one of the test "mules". After one of the Canon workshops (fashion photog "Crila") we did what every responsible group of video geeks would do....absconded with her model and snapped a few shots

Yau, you're famous now :-) The story of that little rig has to do with a still-motion shooter (guess who) absconding with the HV20 setup and mounting to his spider rig. It did create a bit of buzz as everyone had to try it out. Truth be told, it was quite front heavy for our rather diminuitive model. What it does do though is provide some ideas for what our own shoulder mount system for the HV20 will include.

As far as CA, even with two single element macros on our test rig at the show, the HV20/flip array showed less CA than the XH-G1 beside it. On larger cams, the 72mm singlets are pretty bad, and I wouldn't shoot with them. As Jason has alluded, there will be plenty of footage in short order from many of our talented shooters. We had the HV20 linked a week earlier to a 42" 1080P panel via HDMI so the entire crowd there (Bay Street film festival) got a very good look at live output. Our optical testing here is complete and I will post some fabulously boring footage once the retail enclosure is done.

It has always been very important from my perspective to ensure that existing users not be stranded with obsolete investments. To that end, any Brevis owner's need only to add the flip module to be completely up to date. Our interchangeable "CINEFUSE" imaging element system is a prime example of this philosophy where existing users have the option of no less than six imaging elements. In fact, the latest R&D effort has just completed testing and will be announced next week.
