Flipping the LCD screen (magnet trick?)??

I heard there was a way to flip the image on the DVX with some magnet trick. Anyone can give me some info?

35mm adapters (minus the letus flip) flip the image so it is recorded upside down in the camera

magnet-tricking the lcd (on the dvx100a anyways) allows us to see the footage the right way up. Though it is still recorded upside down.

just put a small magnet on the hinge of the flip out screen. Magic!

Why did he use elsatcis to cover the top and bottom, thats so he can adda matte in post right? and he noes the framing will be right...BUT why do this? I dont understand why one would add a matte on the lcd JUST so they can add black bars in post...Is this for movie like?

Probably because he wants an idea of what the footage is going to look like cropped/matted to widescreen, but still wants the "safety blanket" of the full 4:3 frame.
