Some of my 3d stuff...

Nice Tommy,
I like the soft edges on the lights, and the whole mood of the image. How long did it take to render and at what resolution?

It took about 11 minutes to render at 800 x 600. What kills the render time is radiosity, but it makes a huge difference. That plus using area lights adds volumetric lighting which takes more time.

I can imagine. I'm rendering a 120 frame animation and it's going to take a while... granted there are 1.96 million polygons, but still...

So I'm back to working on 3D. I'm working on learning Maya and XSI these days and learn them well...

Here's something I was playing with today. I've started working on modeling my Yamaha s90es keyboard...

I call this one "E flat" :)

ya, nice- that's about all you would need for the entire keyboard... just clone that chunk of keys over and over and line em' up.

Thanks Josh.

Well, I still need to tweak the white keys a bit, but yeah... just clone em. Then I can start working on the rest of the casing and the front panel...

Looking good Tom. I caught the e-flat reference, hehe. Looks good.

But more importantly, "Can you give us a little toon there matey?"

Sure can man, been playing for many years...

Another little project I'm starting... I'm going to put together a gym scene. Started with a Smith machine... well, the first leg of the Smith machine... :)

Here's a closeup of one of the pegs welded...

Good luck Tom, keep us posted. Weights. Reminds me of a story I 'won't' get into in this thread, lol.

Oh btw, you should put that Cinealma webcast series link in your sig, please. I love it but can never find it when I want. I really really like it but help a brother out and make it easier to find. Thanks bro.

//Edit: after 10 minutes of google surfing, Cinealma's links don't work anymore, I found the link...

So, book marked now.

Thanks Gord. It's good because it reminds me of the fact that I really need to get in shape... :D

You had to Google it? Yikes. I would imagine there's more than a few people on dvxuser that know nothing about it, so adding a link in my sig might not be a bad idea.

Speaking of stuff with John (cinealma), it looks like we're going to be doing a project for Monsterfest together.

Oh, and I've got this crazy idea to do a purely 3d music video for some reason...

I started playing around with Terragen 2. Talk about a cool freaking program...

After playing around with it for about an hour or so, I have some decent looking terrain:

Airplane view... This one took much longer to render than the above two:

Yep Terragen 2 is awesome. It makes realistic landscapes pretty simple. Just wish I could export them into C4D.

After doing the Terragen tutorial and reading some of the manual (yeah, I know - RTFM :D), I'm getting better results... I brought it into Nuke and threw in the lens flare and did a little color grade + crop...
