no trailer. we shoot in October. i did make a teaser (and i do mean "teaser") out of some camera test footage that is up on the web site. i'll get some full res stills up as soon as i can.

Hey Zak,
That looks pretty good. How was the test shoot this past week. Did you like the shouldermount? Matt seemed to like it.
Keep up the good work.
Luis

again... these are completely untouched other than the matte -- that includes sharpening which I'd prefer to do in post via Color, rather than locking it in with the in-camera settings.

yeah, Matt really liked it. We shot with the HVX but primarily, we were there to gather footage the main character shoots on a small HV20 because we are shooting the scene where we see that footage about a week before we shoot the scene that takes place there.

Did you have trouble focusing the HV20 on the Brevis? Is an achromat required for this?

One thing about stills to show focusing, its hard to get a crisp frame if someone is moving around or if the camera is moving. Sometimes the stills look blurry but the footage is nice and crisp. I always shoot with a 24 shutter so all my footage in stills has a slight blur to them all but thats just my preference. The Brevis has an achromat that comes with it good for SD and HD.

These were shot with an hvx200. I also happen to own the hv20 and found my ability to focus was borderline -- you could zoom in to just barely frameout the edges of the groundglass, but zoom any further and the camera could no longer focus on it. Definitely requires the achromat, and an additional spacer wouldn't hurt either.

And if the images look soft, I can attribute that to two things: one, these are all handheld shots so there is constant movement, however minimal. Two, I dropped the detail level in-camera to -5 and will sharpen in post using Apple Color. I've done tests and the post sharpening was superior to the Panasonic in-camera sharpening. At least to my eyes, it was.

two more grabs, an ungraded and graded version, in that order. The graded versions were warmed up, midtones lifted, blacks crushed, grain added and sharpening applied.
