Trying some new stuff with FRhack

I did like 2 differnt shots that are new. I have been hanging out with a friend having a good time running around the city. For the first with using only my semi steady hands I think it came out pretty good.

Let me know what you think of ALL these shots, composition, color, etc.

thanks

Really nice and chilled out, you did that hand held even the pan ?
Everything was cool, colors nice and vivid, composition was interesting perhaps a little samey, could of used some close up shots to mix it up a little.
On the hole I enjoyed it

P. That's probably the coolest timelapse I've seen you do, and you've done some really great ones. I love the colors on this. The red on that one shot was money.. The blue and also you've got such a clean image with no noise. What are your settings?

Also loved the panning shots. Money and liked the blur and I think you got the timelapse hook and bug. I know I did and still do. I'm planning on doing some of urban decay... and dead things. Real uplifting stuff...

Looked awesome

Wow, those are the best I have seen so far. The comps are really nice and the colors really pop. That first pan was flawless, do you have an increment thingy on your tripod or did you do that by eye? The skateboard one wasn't so smooth but still looked good. I wanted to see more variety instead of coming back to the same locations though. What did you do for color correction?

Hey thanks for your time to Comment. First let me say I did NO color correction.

Beat (Justin) The skateboard motion shot was actually the first one I tried. I also did a zoom out one which was bad(and the reason why it is not in the video), but I learned what I was doing wrong in the middle of that shot. The nice and steady motion between thepillars was after the skateboard shot,

I used my eyes and would pick one object and then make it go the like a pixel per like 2 seconds.

There is more variety, but not in this video. Me and my buddy have gone out 3 times, and there are 3 differnt threads now with each segmant for that day. My plan is to edit them all together when I haev about 2 more days of going out and filming.

4Mat: I was wondering what do you mean by close up. I am always wanting to try something new and be more creative, so let me know.

My setting were simple CineV with with Master P at -3 and deatil level at +3 and corning at +2, and to get the colors I want I white balance of certain colors. (color cards, or whatever)

Justyn, Wait till you come to Denver before you start on the Decaying and dead timelapses. I would so be up to doing that. I might puke, and gag, but I am down.

Thanks again,

This should be on the Panasonic website because it SO sells the HVX. When it comes to this stuff, the HVX stands alone.

Thanks for all the comments. If those who commented are ever in Denver, Lets go hang out!!! :)

Edit: Just a Correction. I had a typo on the setting, Which I fixed, but it was shot in CineV

Loved the blue colors at the beg.
and the hack played back in slow mo.
I still can't believe the pan with the pillars is by hand. VERY smooth stuff. Would love to see it on a more dramatic shot.
Great looking stuff.

indeed.. P.. did you see that thread about the astonomer's rig. Looks really sweet and cheap too.

impressive bro, maybe it's time to do something choreographed with people and such... That's on my list of things, besides shooting the dead objects decaying and all..

Justyn: Yea we are going out in a day or so to do more pans and tilts, and zoom with more people in the shots etc. I'm hoping soon. Thanks for all the great feedback. If anyone has ideas. I'll go to out and Try.

What about having the panning timelapse going across the scene and have one subject walk really slow so that he looks like he's normal speed and everything else is whizzing by.. couuld be quite nice..

Worth a try, however I have seen failed attempts where the person's gait looked odd when sped up to normal speed.

market.. I think it would take time to get it right. I haven't done that yet, but I did do a nice series on a skateboard...... maybe that would be cool Patrick... try it with a skateboard and maybe chalk out the intervals on the ground so the guy could motion from one spot to the next. Thats' pretty much what I did and looked pretty groovy, but only ended up with maybe 5 second shot and that worked for my piece...

Sorry I did not see that. That is done with the FrameRate hack. Otherwise timelapses are covered in the Manual and Barry's book.

The panning is done extremely slow and not typically by hand due to human error on consistant pans. The pan I did WAS done by hand, so that is why I am so proud of it :)

Any thoughts to my video?
